2 Deputies Slightly Hurt, Suspect In Custody Following Saturday Pursuit In Brevard Co.
(Brevard County, FL) -- Two deputies are slightly injured and a suspect is in custody following Saturday's mid-morning incident in Brevard County. According to the BCSO, 47-year-old Nicholaos Henke was taken into custody after he allegedly tried to escape from deputies who were investigating a suspicious-vehicle report near State Road 528 and Banana River Drive. During the chase, Henke reportedly fired at least shot before tossing the firearm. Both deputies were slightly injured while trying to restrain Henke, who was later charged with assault, resisting arrest and related charges.
Man Arrested After Amber Alert Is Issued
(Riviera Beach, FL)-- A man involved in an Amber Alert is in custody in Palm Beach County. The alert was issued yesterday for Christian Simeus [[ SIM-ee-us ]] . The seven-year-old was allegedly taken by his father in Riviera Beach from a park on West Third Street. He was identified as 44-year-old Jean Simeus. Christian was found safe after a traffic stop on I-75 in North Florida and returned to his mother. The father was arrested, but there's no word on what charges he's facing.
Ride-Share Driver Charged With Sexual Assault
(Miami, FL) -- A ride-share driver is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Miami. Uber confirmed yesterday that Danny Estalin Maurad-Avecillas is one of their drivers. The company says, though, he was not driving for them when he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman last month. She told Miami Police she woke up naked in a hotel room and had no recollection of how she got there. She also felt a pain in her pelvis and had bruises on her body, including her forehead. Police watched surveillance camera footage to identify Maurad-Avecillas as the suspect. The 49-year-old was arrested at his home in Miami-Dade County. Uber tells CBS News Miami there are no words to describe this sickening behavior, and the driver's access has been removed.
Man Throws Coffee At Dunkin' Employee In Pasco County
(New Port Richey, FL)-- A man is wanted for throwing coffee at a woman in Pasco County. New Port Richey Police say the man was at the drive-thru at a Dunkin' on US 19 yesterday morning. An employee handed him a cup of coffee, and he allegedly threw it in her face. Police say she suffered blisters. Police also posted surveillance video images of the man and the silver SUV he was driving. You can see them at Facebook.com/NPRPolice. Kidnapping Plot Alleged In Miami-Dade County
(Miami, FL) --Three people in Florida are facing kidnapping charges after the alleged victim told a McDonald's employee to call police. Police say a 33-year-old man was kidnapped last week outside a Walmart in Sweetwater near Miami. He was apparently lured to the site by a woman he knew, and when he got there, a man forced him into a U-Haul. That's when they drove to the nearby McDonald's and the victim was able to ask for help. The suspects left before police could get there, but officers caught up to them. The woman and two men were taken into custody. The victim was not seriously hurt.
Report: Magician Behind AI Robocalls Imitating Biden
(New Orleans, LA)-- More details are coming to light about the fake robocalls that urged New Hampshire voters not to vote in the state's primary. NBC News reports a magician in New Orleans was the person who used artificial intelligence to create an audio recording of President Biden that was used in the calls. Paul Carpenter said he was hired by a consultant for the president's primary challenger, Dean Phillips, to use AI to mimic Biden's voice and discourage people from voting in New Hampshire's primary last month. Law enforcement is currently investigating the incident. Phillips' campaign condemned the consultant and said it had no involvement in the robocalls.
NY Migrant Fight Club In Queens
(Queens, NY) -- There is online video of migrants fighting with boxing gloves in a McDonald's parking lot in New York. The Post reports witnesses tell them migrants who live in a La Quinta [[ La Keen-tah ]] Inn shelter in Queens have been fighting "Fight Club" style in a nearby parking lot for over a month. There's even video showing one fight that took place during the day, on February 17th, where onlookers cheered and goaded the fighters on. People that work near the lot tell the Post that migrants are selling drugs there as well. More than 67-hundred migrants are currently housed in New York City shelters, camps and hotels.
