BML is the clutter you hear between the ads. During the Super Bowl, the ads are important for other reasons. They’ve become part of the entertainment. At least the good ones do. What about the other ones, those that miss the mark somehow? On the national level those are costly mistakes. At $7m per 30-seconds, Super Bowl ad times ain’t cheap.
While Bud Light’s Mulvaney mistake was costly, it wasn’t $7m/30-seconds. No, that cost came in market share. It’s the comeback that ran the $7m number on Sunday.
I don’t know what Dan Newlin’s ads cost him on Local 6, but you can bet it was more than a regular run. Dan’s now taking some heat for wearing a MAGA shirt in one of the commercials he ran. I had another problem with the other ad.
