Deadly Train Collision In Brevard County

(Melbourne, FL)-- A man is dead and three people are hurt after a train crash in Brevard County. It happened yesterday afternoon in Melbourne at South Harbor City Boulevard and W.H. Jackson Street.Police say a Brightline train hit an SUV on the railroad tracks. No details were released. The three victims who survived the crash are in stable condition. 

U.S. Marshal Order To Seize Miami Commissioner's Assets

(Miami, FL) -- A South Florida commissioner is back in the headlines. U.S. Marshals have been ordered by a federal court to seize more than 60-million dollars in assets from Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo. The move issued yesterday comes after a court asked the city in November to garnish Carollo's wages. The lawmaker was accused of violating the First Amendment by destroying two businesses in political retaliation. As the result of a civil trial, the commissioner was ordered to pay millions of dollars to the victims. The mayor says Carollo is expected to attend today's city commission meeting.

Fugitive Arrested In HillsCo After Four Years On The Run

(Tampa, FL) -- Life on the run is over for a fugitive caught in Hillsborough County. The sheriff's office announced yesterday that Christian Doby was arrested Monday after reportedly fleeing from a traffic stop at a high rate of speed. The 26-year-old was wanted on drug charges and had been on the run for almost four years. Sheriff Chad Chronister says Doby may have believed he could escape consequences, but now he'll have plenty of time to think about the repercussions of his choices. 

Flight Readiness Review Complete For Ax-3 Mission

(Cape Canaveral, FL)-- A historic mission is closer to launching on the Space Coast. Axiom Space announced yesterday that it has completed its internal flight readiness review for the Ax-3 mission. Ax-3 will be the first all-European commercial astronaut mission to the International Space Station. It's due to launch next Wednesday from the Kennedy Space Center.

Publix Expands Footprint To Eighth State

(Louisville, FL) -- Publix is expanding its footprint in the United States. The Lakeland-based grocer opened its first store in Kentucky yesterday. This marks the eighth state for the company. The Louisville location is the first out-of-state location to have Publix Liquors attached to it. It also has a bar, bakery, and a fresh pizza kitchen. The grocery store chain has more than 16-hundred stores across the nation.

Convicted Bank Robber Arrested For Robbing Bank

(Los Angeles, CA)-- A man who spent 40 years in federal prison for robbing banks is back behind bars on suspicion of robbing a bank. The 71-year-old man is accused of robbing a bank in Sun Valley on December 21st, but the Los Angeles Police Department did not release details until Tuesday. Investigators say he allegedly grabbed an employee and threatened to shoot him if he wasn't let into a secure area of the bank. He allegedly left with more than 60-thousand-dollars in cash. The man, who has four prior bank robbery convictions, had been out of prison on supervised release since 2021.

Miller Lite To Sell Beer Mints

(Milwaukee, WI)-- Coming soon: mints that taste like Miller Lite. The beer brand plans to start selling Beer Mints this Friday that are hailed as having the "freshness of mint" but the "great taste of Miller Lite." The alcohol-free mints are being marketed for those taking part in Dry January, where people abstain from, or at least cut back on alcohol for the month. The mints are five bucks for a tin of 40 and will be available at millerlitebeermints.com.

2003, citing questions about "the fairness of death penalty system as a whole," Illinois Governor George Ryan commuted the sentences of all of the state's death row inmates, leaving the prisoners to serve out life sentences behind bars. Ryan's controversial blanket commutation came just days before he was scheduled to leave his governor's post.
