Flood Watches Impact Florida's East Coast
(Miami, FL) -- On and off downpours are expected to impact Florida's East Coast over the next few days.The National Weather Service says a Flood Watch is in effect for Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties through tomorrow evening. In the state's central counties, a Coastal Flood Watch will go into place later tonight and last through at least Saturday afternoon. Forecasters are also tracking a Coastal Flood Advisory in Northeast Florida starting tomorrow morning. All these orders will create rough and hazardous surf conditions into the weekend.
Federal Grant To Help Fund SunRail, Brightline Project
(Orlando, FL) -- The federal government is helping fund a Central Florida railway expansion project. A five-hundred-thousand-dollar grant announced yesterday will help connect the SunRail commuter system and Brightline between Orlando International Airport, the International Drive area, and eventually Disney. State transportation officials are working on the estimated cost and timeline for the development. Meanwhile, Brightline is looking into how it can expand its services from Orlando to Tampa.
Man Who Googled "How To Kill..." Found Guilty Of Murder
(Jacksonville, FL)-- The man who Google searched "how to kill someone with a knife" is guilty in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend. A Duval County jury came back with their verdict on the first-degree murder charge against Randall Brown. He was accused of stabbing the 39-year-old victim more than 80 times before setting the victim's house on fire. The ex-girlfriend is also charged with accessory after the fact after investigators say she helped Brown escape arrest.
Study Shows Credit Card Fraud Growing Problem In Florida
(Tampa, FL) -- A new study shows credit card fraud is a growing problem in the State of Florida. A report from Background-Checks-dot-org lists more than four-thousand reports of credit card fraud in the Tampa area alone this year. There were roughly 38-thousand reports of people misusing cards across the state, placing Florida at number one for the crime in the nation. Miami has had far more credit card fraud reports per capita this year than any other city in the U.S. at more than 330 instances per 100-thousand residents, as compared to roughly 200 instances for the next-highest city, Atlanta.
