House Speaker Renner Urges Ziegler To Resign Amid Rape Accusation

(Sarasota, FL)-- Another prominent Republican wants the party's state chairman to resign over a rape accusation. Republican Party of Florida Chairman and Sarasota resident Christian Ziegler was accused of raping a woman in October. He has not been formally charged, but Republican House Speaker Paul Renner said yesterday Ziegler should step down while the investigation plays out.Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and Republican Senate President Kathleen Passidomo have also called for Ziegler to resign. Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book is also calling for Ziegler to resign saying she stands with all victims of sexual violence. Ziegler has denied the accusation, and he says he won't resign while we have a country to save.

Child Killed, Mother Hurt After Being Hit By Car In Brevard County

(Melbourne, FL)-- A child is dead and his mother is hurt after they were hit by an SUV in Brevard County. It happened Sunday night in Melbourne on Dairy Road near Hall Street. Police say the two were getting out of a car when the child got away from his mother, and when she chased after him, they were hit.The 31-year-old mother is in the hospital in serious condition. A GoFundMe page identifies the boy as Cayden Denny. Over 100 people have donated over four thousand dollars.       

Son Accused Of Killing Father During South Florida Dispute

(Homestead, FL) -- A son is accused of killing his father during a dispute at a South Florida home.Miami-Dade police say 46-year-old Kirsten Williams and wife were arguing at a property in Leisure City last night before their 23-year-old son tried to intervene. Williams and his son started shooting at each other. Williams was rushed to Jackson South Medical Center, where he later died. The son, who called 9-1-1, was not hurt. It's unclear what exactly led up to the incident, but detectives are interviewing the suspected shooter and his mother.

Florida Take Legal Action Against Tampa Bay Solar Company

(Zephyrhills, FL) -- The state of Florida is going after two solar companies. Attorney General Ashley Moody says complaints have been filed against SetUp My Solar in Pasco County and Vision Solar in Orange County. The businesses are accused of conducting high-pressure sales tactics and misrepresenting potential savings for hundreds of people. In addition, customers claim the companies failed to complete projects. The state is taking legal action to try to permanently prevent the establishments from doing business in Florida, while also collecting refunds and other relief for the impacted residents. 

CFTOD Asks IRS To Waive Back Taxes Owed By Employees

(Orlando, FL) -- The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District wants to protect employees from paying back taxes to the IRS. Employees of what used to be called the Reedy Creek Improvement District were given Disney Park passes and discounts for years, but taxes were not paid on those perks.Over 600 employees owe over two million dollars in back taxes, and the CFOTD wants to work with the IRS on a resolution. The CFOTD is meeting tomorrow to discuss the issue. The district tells News 6 it hopes the IRS will waive the back taxes because the employees were not told by the RCID they had to pay taxes on the passes and discounts.   

Woman Tries To Rob Publix Stores In Broward County

(Miramar, FL) -- A woman is accused of trying to rob two grocery stores in Broward County. Miramar Police said yesterday that Rebeca Navarro Rodriguez was arrested after trying to rob a Publix on Miramar Parkway on Saturday.She allegedly gave a manager a note that said she had a bomb and demanded three thousand dollars. The manager gave her 17-hundred dollars and Rodriguez left. Police say another employee followed Rodriguez into the parking lot and took a picture of her car. The 59-year-old is also accused of trying to rob a Publix in Hollywood earlier that day, but she was unsuccessful.   

"Time" Unveils 2023 Person Of The Year Shortlist

(New York, NY)-- Taylor Swift and Barbie are on the shortlist for Time magazine's 2023 Person of the Year. The publication unveiled the final list of candidates for the honor on Monday.Others on the list include Hollywood strikers, Chinese President Xi Jinping [[ she jeen-peeng ]], Open AI CEO Sam Altman and prosecutors of former President Trump. Rounding out the list are Russian President Vladimir Putin, King Charles The Third and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. The Time Person of the Year will be revealed on Wednesday.
