Pro-Palestinian Protesters Disrupt FSU Board Meeting

(Tallahassee, FL) --Pro-Palestinian protesters let the Florida State University's Board of Trustees know they were surprised and angry that Friday's meeting, and public comment period, ended before the scheduled start time. Demonstrators started arriving around 2:15 p.m. for the meeting that was scheduled to begin at 3. An FSU spokesperson said committee meeting before the board meeting ended early to the board meeting started early. The protesters silently waved Palestinian flags in the back of the meeting room, then chanted "Free, free Palestine" as police escorted them out.

Escambia County Democrats Want State Rep. Salzman To Resign For Comments About Palestinians

(Pensacola, FL) --A lawmaker from Escambia County is facing calls to resign. The Escambia County Democratic Party is joining others in demanding Pensacola State Rep. Michelle Salzman step down. Last week, Jacksonville State Representative Angie Nixon was speaking on the House floor when she asked how many more Palestinians will have to die before Israel agrees to a cease fire. Salzman shouted out, 'all of them,' but she later said she was referring to terrorists and not civilians. Derrick Scott is the chairman of the Escambia Democratic Party, and but he says this isn't about party. He tells WEAR News whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, you should stand on the side of what's right, and what's right is taking accountability for the actions and statements she has made.

Woman Heard Yelling Pro-Hitler Views At Rally For Israel

(Miami Beach, FL) --Social media is coming for a woman caught on video heckling pro-Israel protesters in Miami-Dade County. An X account called StopAntiSemites posted video of the woman shouting at those attending a rally in Miami Beach Saturday.She can be heard screaming, 'you guys are taking all our money,' 'Hitler should have finished the job,' and 'he knew what he was doing.' The X account is asking anyone who recognizes her to contact them. One X user wrote, 'being anti-Semitic in a city like Miami won't last very long.  

Florida Lawmakers Mull Extra Licensing Fees For Electric, Hybrid Vehicles In 2024

(Pinellas County, FL) -- Florida lawmakers are pushing a bill that, if enacted, would create a yearly fee for owners of electric vehicles. Critics of the measure say lawmakers are penalizing the owners of electric vehicles to recoup that potential loss of revenues from gasoline taxes that fund the state's roads. If enacted, the bill reportedly would create additional annual license fees for electric and hybrid vehicles beginning next year. The yearly cost to owners of electric vehicles would be 200 dollars in addition to regular annual registration fees. Hybrid-vehicle owners would have to shell out an extra 50 bucks each year.

Teen Arrested For Shooting Into Home In Hillsborough County

(Plant City, FL) --A teenager is facing charges after shots were fired in Hillsborough County. Plant City Police yesterday arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly shooting into a home on Magnolia Meadows Drive. A 20-year-old and three minors were in the home, but no one was hurt.The charges against the suspect include shooting at, within or into a building and minor in possession of a firearm.Police say they also found two stolen guns and drugs in the home.      

HillsCo Deputy Released From Hospital

(Tampa, FL) --A Hillsborough County deputy is marking a milestone in his recovery from an on-duty crash. Deputy Manuel Santos was released from the hospital this weekend.He suffered severe injuries last week when he was hit by a car in Brandon. The driver allegedly hit Santos on purpose in an attempt to kill him.Sheriff Chad Chronister says Santos faces a long road to recovery. Corporal Carlos Brito was also hurt in the incident and is in danger of losing his leg.Santos says he hopes Brito comes out walking so the two can get back to working together again.

Man Shot In Broward County

(Pompano Beach, FL) -- A man is hurt after a shooting in Broward County. The sheriff's office says he was shot around 1:00 this morning in Pompano Beach on Northeast 9th Ave. Deputies say he was breaking into a home, and someone inside shot him. NBC 6 reports he was taken to the hospital, but there's no word on his condition. No charges have been announced against the shooter.
