Here’s a recap of the week…

BML Monday: FL Republicans & would-be Presidents

…sloppy government problems

Florida Republicans met in Kissimmee over the weekend to hear various presidential candidates for the GOP nomination. There were some who should have stayed home and the crowd let them know. The big faceoff was between Governor DeSantis and President Trump. The sentiments seem clear, but is the primary over as the media and polling might suggest? We’ll explore that today.

IN A HANDBASKET we find a Florida teacher who’s lost a job over her persistent defiance of state law when it comes to her gender nonspecific pronouns. We’ll move on to unincorporated Indialantic where a homeowner and Brevard County authorities (who appear to have dropped the ball) have the county in a pickle.

Massive protest in DC called for violence against Jews and the president’s puppet master has his plan for resolving the conflict. I’m pretty sure it’s not a good one.

They all add up to sloppy government problems on this Monday edition of BML.

Municipal and Special District elections are tomorrow. Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic joins us at 8:42 to share the details.

BML Tuesday: AI, Courts & Politics

DAVE DOES HISTORY

It’s Election Day across the nation.Locally, it’s municipal and special district elections. If your community has an election, take time to make these decisions that will impact your life.

With it being Tuesday, Dave Bowman joins us for today’s show. It’s DAVE DOES HISTORY in our final hour as Dave looks at the 1916 election and Woodrow Wilson.

AI will be the focus IN A HANDBASKET as it’s quite possible the technology is more human than we think. It may be more Lore than Data for you Star Trek fans, but it certainly acts human!

Our courts are rather inhuman, or inhumane. One is St. Louis makes no sense when it comes to who gets incarcerated and who goes free.

Chris Muro talked about this Election Day on his last visit with us. He pointed to the Kentucky governor‘s race as a potential bellwether for the 2024 general election. It’s tight.Much closer than expected, it seems.

If we are to believe the polls and the media, the Republican Primary is over. Donald Trump is the nominee and the former president will face off against the current one for the Chief Executive job. If that’s the case, the news isn’t good for Joe Biden.

BML: Wide Open Wednesday

…Election results and?

Another election day has passed and a couple of local races narrowly escaped the recount threshold. It was a mixed bag nationally as the country continues to be a land where we are divided.

The media, most of it anyway, has a decided preference in all things political and a recent NBC headline takes the spotlight. In addition to deceiving you, the government and social media outlets worked to silence you. The Republican led US House of Representatives decided to waste time with posturing as opposed to doing the work of the people.

Here at home, a dismissal of a lawsuit seeking to trample women in sports keeps a law in place to protect them. We also have several stories on education in Brevard and Governor DeSantis as he seeks the Republican nomination against President Trump.

But, today’s your day on BML. It’s the one day each week you are not restricted to my topics. When you call the show, it’s whatever you like. It’s what Wide Open Wednesday is all about.

BML Thursday: Debate Envy?

…RNC is not about selecting the right candidate

Let’s open the day with doing what you want. No, not another Wide Open Wednesday, but your right to do as you please. Do you have it? It used to depend on where you were. That’s a little less restrictive today.

A lawsuit to upend protecting women in sports has been quashed. You don’t have the right to impose males on female athletes in Florida.

Indialantic’s raised crosswalks are causing a stir and some vehicle damage. It’s interesting that in considering how to handle the issue, nobody is mentioning simply removing the poorly constructed project.

Nashville PD has suspended seven police officers over the Covenant shooter’s manifesto page leaks.  Did we learn anything new?

While the RNC should be all about electing the right Republican candidate, they are lost and off mission. Their debate structure and, yes, debate envy, are hampering the process they should be facilitating. While Donald Trump has refused to attend any of their debates (and I believe that’s good move for him), Minnesota won’t be able to keep him off the primary ballot.

BML Friday: Bouncing Around

…Chris Muro Recaps Tuesday’s Elections

We’ve got a variety of topics for today’s show. We’ll begin with what I thought was speculation on the part of folks when it comes to the US Women’s National Soccer Team.Nope, it’s not speculation; it happened.

Respect for authority has disappeared in some circles. On the gulf coast it’s resulted in two deputies being ambushed.

Could Florida’s new rules for colleges stop support or shows of it for our nation’s allies?

Can social media posts send you to prison?

Joe Manchin is not seeking reelection to the US Senate. What’s that mean for the Senate and the 2024 presidential election? Political Scientist Chris Muro will discuss that, the implications of Tuesday’s off year election and more in our final hour today.
