Florida House Approves Additional Iran Sanctions

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A bill designed to expand sanctions on Iran is advancing through the Florida Legislature. The state House approved the measure during day two of a special session yesterday.It would require the state to strip investments from companies linked to Iranian industries, like petroleum, financial, construction and manufacturing. It's unclear how many businesses the measure will impact. The Senate vote could happen today.

Poll: Trump Takes Nearly 40 Point Lead Over DeSantis

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Governor Ron DeSantis is trailing behind former President Donald Trump in Florida's Republican primary field. A new poll from the University of North Florida shows 60-percent of Republican voters in the state support Trump.  Meanwhile, just over 20-percent are for DeSantis. Dr. Michael Bender with UNF's Public Opinion Research Lab says despite a historically high approval rate, DeSantis is losing steam in his home state, which is putting a strain on his national campaign. When asked about the 2026 race for Florida governor, 40-percent of participating residents were unsure or refused to answer.

Police Shooting In Volusia County

(Ormond Beach, FL)-- A woman is hurt after she was shot by police in Volusia County. Ormond Beach Police say she was shot yesterday afternoon at Andy Romano Beachfront Park at Milsap Road and South Atlantic Ave.She was shot after she allegedly charged at officers with a knife. Police say she was taken to the hospital, but there's no word on her condition. The FDLE is investigating.

Federal Judge Supports State's Ban On Transgender Athletes

(Tallahassee, FL)-- A transgender athlete in Broward County won't be able to play on the girl's volleyball team. A federal judge in Tallahassee on Monday dismissed the high school student's lawsuit challenging a two-year-old Florida law that bans those born male from playing on girl's sports teams. The judge agreed with the state that SB 1028 does not violate the Constitution or Title 9.He wrote there are real differences in physical attributes between men and women, and the law is meant to promote gender equality by preserving athletic opportunities for girls. 

GOP Debate Tonight In Miami

(Miami, FL)-- It may be difficult driving around the Miami area today because of two big political events. The Republican Party is holding a presidential candidate's debate at the Arsht Center on Biscayne Boulevard. Road closures will start at 1:00 this afternoon, and the event starts at 8:00.Also, a Free Speech Zone will be set up near North Bayshore Drive and Northeast 14th Street. In Hialeah, Donald Trump will be holding a rally at Henry Milander [[MY-lan-der]] Park at Ted Hendricks Stadium. Street closures will start at 9:00 a.m., doors will open at 2:00, and Trump is expected to speak at 7:00 tonight.      

People Are Defecating In Line While Waiting For Rides At Disney Theme Parks

(Anaheim, CA)-- Waiting in line for a popular ride at a Disney theme park can take upwards of 90 minutes. For some guests, that's so long that people are reportedly defecating while in line. That's according to several references on social media and backed up by a recent book written by former Disney theme park custodians. According to the book, "Cleaning the Kingdom: Insider Tales of Keeping Walt's Dream Spotless," it's not just parents letting their kids go right there on the cement, it's adults. And, they say it happens so often that Disney Resorts has implemented a protocol that allows a guest to flag down a cast member who will wait in line for them until they return from a restroom.

Heinz Unveils Pickle Ketchup

(Pittsburgh, PA)-- Heinz will launch a new pickle flavored ketchup next year. The condiment maker says Pickle Ketchup will combine "the tangy and savory flavor of pickles with the unmistakable taste of Heinz Ketchup." Heinz noted that a recent Datassential Report showed 73-percent of Americans enjoy the taste of pickles. Pickle Ketchup will start to hit store shelves in early 2024.
