Here’s a recap of the week…
BML Monday: Lies, Damn Lies & Mob Rule
…no way to run a country
We’ve done a great job of teaching our kids to be entitled and believe their wants must be met. A high school in California is today’s example as students walked out in support of greater punishment for fellow students. Where did they get the idea they are in charge? It’s IN A HANDBASKET to begin our week.
Bill Maher is urging kids to not go to college. As an Ivy League grad himself, Maher sees that colleges have become too expensive and not worth what students or society get on the other end of it.
After our show Friday, where we had discussed Sydney Powell’s guilty plea in the Georgia election interference case, her co-defendant, Kenneth Chesebro, entered a plea of his own. Are the dominoes starting to fall?
In his podcast last week Tucker Carlson laid out the lies of George Floyd’s death. Are there cops in prison for something they did not do?
We now have nine or so Republicans seeking the nomination to Speaker of the House. What’s keeping the majority from getting its act together? I keep going back to the ouster of Kevin McCarthy. Was there ever a plan?
Here at home the Florida Legislature will head into special session to address dealing with Iraq in the wake of the attacks on Israel and to provide additional relief for victims of Hurricane Idalia.
BML Tuesday: You Sunk my Battleship!
Words. I make my living with them. We all use them to communicate and, hopefully, understand one another. No one is forcing us to say, or not say, anything here. It’s not the case for everyone and that has the Department of Health and Human Services IN A HANDBASKET as we open the day.
Just for Lou in Tampa: Taylor Swift has kissed Travis Kelce in public.
Moms for Liberty has been a phenomenal success here in the USA. From the outset, Canadians wanted in on the parental rights movement. Whoever they are, Canadian parents have been successful and they now have a parental bill of rights. As you might imagine, not all Canadians are happy.
If the economic trends are any clue, Woke investing could be bad for your economic health.
An off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot tried to crash one of their planes as he was catching a ride in the cockpit during his downtime. The DOJ will be facing questions on the politicization of the hunter Biden investigation. There are eight candidates for the Speaker job as Republicans take their time giving away their power in congress.
In a piece below I’ve titled “America needs to wake up” there’s an interesting look at what may be the undoing of our country- failing to teach our kids the whys of our style of government. It’s worth your time to read.
Dave Bowman joins us again this morning and in our final hour looks at WWII and the revenge of the battleships with DAVE DOES HISTORY.
BML: Wide Open Wednesday
…what are you thinking?
On this day where you may bring anything you like to our conversation, I have these things in mind:
For the criminal minded, some advice should you decide to rob a gun store. Bud Light is trying to buy back its image by sponsoring UFC fighting. Can drag queen MMA be far behind?THE BLAZE is making a bold move- I hope it survives. The House has its 4th speaker nominee- why can’t Republicans get it together? Here in the Sunshine State, D-33 has made a big splash of dumping his support for Governor Ron DeSantis to stump for Trump in the run for the Republican nomination. The bombastic legislator is also the topic on an opinion piece in the Orlando Sentinel that puts D-33, drag queens and bestiality in the same basket.
Let’s see where you take us on a Wide Open Wednesday.
BML Thursday: Is Brevard Ethics Challenged?
…Rep. Bill Posey @ 8:26
After three weeks we finally have a Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson of Louisiana now holds the gavel and congress can get back to business. Congressman Bill Posey will join us at 8:26 to introduce us to the new Speaker and to share insights on the process that got Johnson elected.
We’ll open our day with what Jason Whitlock calls a win in the culture wars. I call it an expensive attempt for Bud Light to rehabilitate its image.Drag Queen mixed martial arts is IN A HANDBASKET this morning.
One has to wonder…what’s the motivation of D-33 when it comes to bailing out on Governor DeSantis’ run for the presidency to support President Trump’s run. D-33 does nothing that is not in his self-interest. This certainly can’t help his prospects should he attain the FL Senate seat he seeks.
Brevard has been embarrassed again.County Commissioner Johnus Disgustus Tobia attended the Brevard Delegation meeting yesterday, although he arrived after his designated time to address our Tallahassee contingent.Maybe it was because it took him extra time to get his attire in order. Johnus Disgustus left his toga in the closet in favor of his Elvis impersonation outfit. They let the grandstanding and disrespectful office holder speak anyway. Apparently his remarks were littered with Elvis song references that concluded with an “Elvis has left the building” farewell. I can’t believe anyone, especially the Sheriff, wants this clown running Brevard elections in the future.
In more bad news from the county commission, ethics are thing of the past. Commissioner Trans-Kristine will be allowed to resume his lobbying activities for cities in the county even as he sits on the commission. Permission from the Ethics Commission may clear the way and make those activities lawful. But, as we all know, lawful and ethical are two different things.
Brevard’s school board is considering expanding its Guardian Program to allow staff members to carry firearms at school. I’m a fan of the idea. Look for the teacher’s union to prefer victim children in our school hallways as opposed to allowing staff to protect them.
Let’s get the day started.
BML Friday: Eroding Education & Ethics
…always concerns
What could the establishment do to make education even more worthless than it already is? How about having no standards for success? That stupid move has Oregon schools IN A HANDBASKET as we begin our Friday.
Eventbrite is an event ticketing website and it apparently has a problem with conservative events, but not supporters of the Hamas attacks in Israel.
We have a lingering question or two from our county commission ethics discussion from yesterday.
Brevard Schools could be arming staff other than current Guardians.
D-33 is talking about his failed bid to become the next president of Florida Atlantic University and he’s filed a bill to push for the sale of Parrish Medical Center.
In the wake of the UAW strike against automakers, GM is slowing EV production and Ford says it’s reached a new agreement with the union.
Let’s get to our week ending discussion.
