Israeli Official Discusses Governor's Role In Getting Weapons And Ammo To Israel

(Miami, FL) --An Israeli official in Miami credits the governor with helping weapons and ammo get to Israel. Israel Consul General Maor Elbaz-Starinsky talked yesterday about what Governor Ron DeSantis did to make the transfer possible.Elbaz-Starinsky says the donations were made privately when the war first started, but the shipment was being held up due to red tape. He says he approached a few contacts, including the governor's office, to get the final approval. Elbaz-Starinsky also tells McClatchy he usually doesn't get involved in these kinds of things, but it was the first days of the war, everyone was panicked and stressed and everything was urgent.  

State Rep. Fine Recounts Quest To Be FAU Prez

(Tallahassee, FL) --A Brevard County lawmaker thinks politics played a role in his failed effort to become a university president.Republican State Rep. Randy Fine talked yesterday about not getting the job as president of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Fine says the governor's office encouraged him to apply in February and told him he would waltz right in. Fine, though, thinks the search committee had it in for him because he's a conservative, and they didn't agree with the governor's vision for higher education.The search committee chose not to name Fine as a finalist. The 49-year-old tells the South Florida Sun Sentinel FAU's board didn't want a conservative non-academic.    

Petito's Parents File Motion Seeking Testimony Of Laundrie Family Lawyer

(Sarasota, FL) --Gabby Petito's parents are taking legal action to get the lawyer for Brian Laundrie's family to share what he knows about their daughter's murder. Lawyers for the Petito's filed a motion yesterday to get a judge to force attorney Steven Bertolino to testify. The Petito's believe Bertolino can't invoke attorney-client privilege to avoid testifying because Laundrie confessed to killing Gabby in a letter found after Laundrie killed himself. News Channel 8 reports no date has been set for when the judge will hear arguments in the motion. Meanwhile, this month marks two years since Laundrie committed suicide. His body was found a month after Gabby's body was found in Wyoming. The two were engaged and on a cross-country trip when she was killed.

Jewel Thief Suspect Found Victims Through Social Media

(Miami Beach, FL) --Police in Miami-Dade County are warning that some of your social media followers could be trying to rob you.Miami Beach Police recently arrested Diego Sebastiani Estrada for allegedly robbing celebrities he followed on social media. The 24-year-old allegedly found out where the victims lived, entered their homes and robbed them at gunpoint. In one case, Estrada allegedly took a 40-thousand dollar Rolex and a Range Rover.One of his alleged victims is reality TV's Sam Logan. Police tell Local 10 News be careful what you post on social media, who you follow and who follows you.

Man In Halloween Costume Spooks Kids At Odessa Elementary School

(Odessa, TX) --Things are calming down at a school in Odessa, Texas where a man in a Halloween costume caused a scare. Ector County ISD officials say a man banged on windows at Sam Houston Elementary on Tuesday afternoon and tried to enter the school through the back door. The school was placed on lockdown as school district police responded. They identified him as a "20-year-old special needs man who was dressed in a tactical gear Halloween costume."The lockdown was lifted about half an hour later and the kids were sent home.

Study: Teens Want More Friendship Content In Media

(Undated) -- Turns out teens want less sex and romance on their screens. A UCLA study finds Generation Z would rather see platonic relationships in entertainment. The majority of survey participants say romance is overused in media.Researchers say Gen Z craves feel-good character relationships after being isolated during the pandemic. This trend is being labeled as "nomance."
