Here’s a recap of the week…
BML Monday: College, COVID & Congress
…Fishlips Discount Deal 8:20
We’ll take a look at college IN A HANDBASKET this morning. We’ll go to Clemson and then to a historic black college in Baltimore. There are lessons to learn from both.
Have you heard there are new COVID vaccines just waiting for you this flu season? Do you care?It seems we’ve had it with the COVID hysteria.
The House of Representatives has a new Republican nominee for Speaker. They could vote on Jim Jordan as early as tomorrow, but have the Republicans managed to unify?
The prosecutor who handled the Casey Anthony case and is now an orange/Osceola judge is still on the job, but is also being investigated for alleged child abuse.
The governor and D-33 are sounding off about support of Hamas in Florida. I have to agree with them, if you are here on a student visa and protesting in favor of the attacks on Israel, why are we educating you, much less allowing you to remain here?
Brevard teachers are looking at almost a 10% pay hike if the proposed agreement is approved.
Welcome to day one of our talk week.
BML Tuesday: Baseball, Shopping & College
Americana. What could be more American than baseball, shopping and going to college? Changes are coming to each of them and we’ll put them all in play for today’s discussion. Are we ready for this? I’m not so sure we are.
Baseball’s world could be rocked by a woman. Shopping is changing because of a non-human and college just ain’t what it used to be…on several fronts.
As the war in Israel continues Americans are making it home. Even those rescues are not without controversy. Bill Maher is taking on the left for stances tat support terrorism.Starbucks is considering suing its employees’ union for supporting Hamas.
Jim Jordan may become Speaker of the House today. Votes are changing and momentum could be swinging his way.
Dave Bowman brings us how the world changed this week in 1781 with DAVE DOES HISTORY.
BML; Wide Open Wednesday
…lead the way
The day is yours. Any topic, any time you call. It’s what Wide Open Wednesday is all about. I’ll not hit every topic that interests you. This is your one day each week to take us to what you want to discuss. So what is it?
For me it’s the irony of a left leaning company like Starbucks suing a labor union representing its workers, even though it’s for good reason. Then there’s Bill Maher taking on his friends on the left for supporting terrorism.
Tom Cotton wants foreign Hamas supporters in the USA deported. I agree with him.
We have a column with insights as to why college just isn’t what it used to be and an example of one with its head in the sand.
In congress, Jim Jordan fell short on the first ballot to be Speaker. That was not unexpected, in fact, it shows promise, if you ask me.
Here in the Sunshine State, the Agriculture Commissioner wants to free up restrictions on certain jobs when it comes to carrying firearms. The state also has come up with a standardized school safety model that will be mandatory at the first of the year.
The question of the day remains…what’s on your mind?
BML Thursday: Secrets, Violence & Righting Wrongs
…lingerie to land grabs
We’ll begin with a Sears or JC Penney-like wish book for men. Victoria’s Secret is IN A HANDBASKET this morning as they are going back to sleep. Why? Because WOKE just wasn’t working for the lingerie company.
From sex we’ll move to violence, or what’s being described incorrectly as violence. A Chicago law firm has revoked an employment offer for a NYU law schooler who decided her opinions are more important than being employed. That’s not violent, that’s smart!
Now, if we only had a story about rock and roll to follow the sex and violence, we’d be set. We’ll settle instead for righting some wrongs in the country as Arkansas is doing to China what Florida is trying. The American Federation of Teachers is trying to rewrite COVID history and its part in setting school kids back during the pandemic.
Last Friday Chris Muro told us a third party candidate would hurt Donald Trump more than Joe Biden in 2024. We have a study linked up affirming Chris’ take.
The left has had its own insurrection in DC and Hamas supporting officials are encouraging it. After a second round of voting yesterday, the House Speaker’s job is still vacant. Some are making noise about another candidate, but is it too early for that?
BML Friday: Culture, Councils, Courts & Congress
…oh, and Candidates
Today’s focus is the Five C’s…Six if you count the train collision in Brevard yesterday.
We reported earlier in the week that Starbucks was threatening to sue its employees’ union for pro-Hamas statements the union made. It happened and the union has filed a countersuit against the coffee maker.
Yesterday we discussed Arkansas taking on China over land ownership in their state. It’s not the only battle Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is fighting. The culture wars are playing out in Arkansas as well.
Here in Florida, more schools will have to reestablish bathroom normalcy. Ustaville has a new mayor and Brightline has claimed its first life in Brevard. Former Florida State Representative Joe Harding has been sentenced for COVID fraud.
On the national front, President Trump’s former lawyer Sydney Powell has entered guilty pleas to election related charges in Georgia and the search for a House Speaker has taken some conflicting turns just since we last talked.
We also have a follow-up from Thursday in the form of a Facebook message regarding an independent presidential run and the major candidates. It may surprise you.
