Project Dynamo Credits DeSantis For Flights Out Of Israel

(Tampa, FL) --A Tampa Bay rescue organization is crediting the governor for helping it get Americans out of Israel. Project Dynamo flew 270 people from Israel to Tampa Sunday night. Founder Bryan Stern said yesterday Governor Ron DeSantis paid for that plane and four others. There's no word on how much the state paid. Stern says it's the first time any government agency has assisted him financially. He tells the Tampa Bay Times he talked to Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie, and in about 20 minutes, we were in business. Stern adds, though, that if the state hadn't stepped up, he would have figured out how to get those people home. Guthrie says at least two more flights are in the works. He also tells ABC Action News this was one of the most difficult but most rewarding things we have ever done.

Other States Support Florida's Efforts To Block Transgender Care

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Republican leaders across the country are supporting Florida's efforts to block transgender care for kids. A brief signed by attorneys general from 18 states was filed late last week, asking a federal appeals court to overturn a Clinton-appointed judge's recent ruling. The judge decided against a ban on Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming care for patients under the age of 18. The same day as GOP leaders submitted their briefing, nearly two dozen medical organizations wrote up their own saying children will be at-risk if they are denied treatments that they are qualified for. The court has not released a timeline on when it will make a final decision on the case.

Volusia County Councilman To Propose New Rules For Sex Offenders

(DeLand, FL) --A Volusia County official wants to keep sex offenders further away from places where kids gather. District Three Councilman Danny Robins will propose three new laws at today's county council meeting. One of those laws will require some sex offenders to live at least 15-hundred feet away from playgrounds, park, schools and daycares. That would be more restrictive than the state law of one thousand feet. Robins tells News 6 this is an important issue for the community, and they're going to do something about it.

Seminole County Official Wants State To Investigate Elections Supervisor

(Sanford, FL) --Seminole County's elections leader says he has more evidence of racial discrimination. Elections Supervisor Chris Anderson, who's Black, talked yesterday about a letter Commission Chair Amy Lockhart sent to Governor Ron DeSantis two weeks ago. She's asking DeSantis to investigate Anderson for creating what she calls a toxic, if not hostile, work environment. Lockhart also accuses Anderson of erratic and combative behavior, and she wonders if Anderson will cause candidates for office to lose confidence in the electoral process. Anderson calls the letter an unprofessional hit piece and further evidence of racial discrimination and retaliation. He also tells the Orlando Sentinel he's saddened by Lockhart's inexcusable attempts to interfere with a job he holds dear. DeSantis has not said if he'll investigate Anderson.
