Opening Statements To Begin In Trial For Man Accused Of Killing Daytona Beach Officer

(Daytona Beach, FL) - Opening statements begin today in the trial of a man accused of killing a Daytona Beach police officer. Othal Wallace allegedly shot 26-year-old officer Jason Raynor in June of 2021.Wallace is charged with premeditated first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer- and prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if he is convicted. Twelve jurors and three alternates were selected Friday.

Police Investigating After Body Found In Palm Bay

(Palm Bay, FL) -Police are investigating after a body was found in Palm Bay. The grim discovery was made Sunday on a plot of undeveloped land known as "The Compound." Police say the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Flamingo Found Near Saint Pete Beach After Hurricane Idalia Released Into Wild

(Saint Petersburg, FL) -- The flamingo that was found exhausted near Saint Pete Beach following Hurricane Idalia is now back in the wild. Employees with Seaside Seabird Sanctuary released the flamingo, now named Peaches, on Saturday after some time spent recovering. The bird has been fitted with identification bands and a satellite transmitter that will allow researchers to keep track of its movements over the next couple of years. Sanctuary operators say they will know whether Peaches is male or female once they get DNA test results.

Jags Get First Win In Indianapolis Since 2017

(Indianapolis, IN) --The Jags are one-and-oh on the young season after a come-from-behind win in Indy Sunday. Jacksonville was down 21-17 heading into the fourth quarter yesterday. Two late rushing touchdowns by rookie Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne [[ E-T-N ]] sealed the comeback win. Yesterday was the Jags' first win in Indianapolis since 2017.   

Baker Mayfield Leads Bucs Offense To Road Win

(Minneapolis, MN) --The Bucs are one-and-oh after a big road win in Minnesota to start the season Sunday. Tampa Bay and the Vikings were tied at the half, but the Bucs' offense was able to string together a couple of scoring drives to seal a 20-17 victory. New Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield was efficient, throwing for two touchdowns and no interceptions. The Bucs are home hosting the Bears this coming weekend.                

Tyreek Hill, Dolphins Edge Chargers In Season Opener

(Inglewood, CA) --Tyreek Hill caught 11 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns as the Dolphins took down the Chargers 36-34 at SoFi Stadium. Hill caught a go-ahead, four-yard touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa [[ TUNG-oh-vai-LO-uh ]] with under two minutes to lift Miami to the victory. Tagovailoa finished with 466 passing yards, three TDs and one interception. The Dolphins open the season at one-and-oh. Week Two, the 'Phins stay on the road to visit the Patriots.

NJ Alligator Caught After More Than A Week On The Loose

(Piscataway, NJ) -- The alligator that recently caused a New Jersey park to close has been captured in a nearby area. After several sightings, police finally caught up with the alligator in Piscataway. Responding officers put a leash around the four-foot-long gator's neck and drove it to Piscataway Police Headquarters where it was kept in its own cell block. NJ Fish and Wildlife handled the situation given that Edison Animal Control didn't have the right equipment.
