Florida Supreme Court To Hear Abortion Ban Arguments

(Tallahassee, FL) -- The Florida Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case challenging the state's 15-week abortion ban today. Planned Parenthood claims that a privacy clause in the state constitution shields a person's private life from government intrusion, including the right to an abortion. Governor Ron DeSantis signed a new measure earlier this year that would ban abortions after six-weeks of pregnancy. The high court's ruling on the case will determine whether the more restrictive law will take effect.

DeSantis Defends Policies After Confronted About Deadly Jacksonville Shooting

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Governor Ron DeSantis is standing behind his policies after he was confronted about the racially-motivated mass shooting in Jacksonville. The governor was at Duval County restaurant yesterday to speak out against COVID-19 mandates. A man in the crowd spoke out and suggested that DeSantis signed off on measures that allowed weapons to be put in the hands of hateful people which led to the deadly triple shooting at a Dollar General last month. DeSantis called the statement nonsense before explaining how the suspected shooter was previously Baker Acted and shouldn't have been eligible to own a firearm. The man was eventually escorted out of the event.

Volusia County Teacher Arrested For Hitting Student

(Edgewater, FL)-- A Volusia County teacher is accused of hitting an autistic student.Port Orange's Stacy Strnad [[ster-NAD]] was arrested yesterday for child abuse. The 48-year-old teaches at Indian River Elementary School in Edgewater, but she's now on leave. Edgewater Police say she hit the four-year-old boy twice on the arm and then grabbed his arm as he tried to run. That caused the child to fall into a bookcase and suffer a small cut on his arm.The district says it's fully cooperating with the investigation, and it takes this issue very seriously. 

Wendy's To Offer New Pumpkin Spice Frosty Beginning Next Week

(Dublin, OH) -- Wendy's is getting into the pumpkin spice game this fall. The Dublin-based hamburger chain has announced that a new pumpkin spice Frosty flavor will be available beginning next Tuesday. The company says the frozen treat introduces hints of pumpkin flavor and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to the familiar and creamy Frosty texture. A pumpkin spice Frosty cold brew coffee drink will also be available starting next week.
