Each day Bill records a MICKnugget, a one-minute take on some issue that got his attention that morning. Below are the scripts for last week’s NUGGETS.

09.05.23- Gator Pawns
College football fans, how do you like being pawns in a battle of major corporations?
Thursday night the Florida Gators were playing Utah in the opening game of the season. Kickoff was scheduled just after 8pm on ESPN.
At 8:04, after on-site coverage had begun, Disney/ABC/ESPN cut the feed to Charter/Spectrum cable outlets. Orlando and Tampa along with seven other major markets were impacted.
Gator fans, maybe football fans all over, were livid. I know some who immediately began searching for other provider alternatives.
I don’t blame them. When you’re in the service business, service is ALL you have to sell.
What we got was sold out. While Disney cut the feed, Spectrum did nothing to stop it.
We only got the Florida State win over LSU because WFTV was carrying the ABC game.
These providers cut the feed and their own throats.
09.06.23- The Colluding Commission
For the first time in seven years the Brevard County Commission is scrutinizing the sample ballot mailing by the Supervisor of Elections.
State law allows options for sample ballots. They may be mailed to voters, published in a newspaper of general circulation (reaching just over 12k in a county of over 400k voters, how smart is that?) or emailed to voters who request it.
Now the reason for the commission’s quest: to help Commissioner John Tobia (Johnus Disgustus) in his campaign to unseat SOE Tim Bobanic.
Tobia initiated this inquisition and his fellow commissioners are playing along. Only Commissioner Tom Goodson sees this for what it is and calls it out.
The others have joined Tobia in this effort against a sitting Republican SOE.
Tim Bobanic will join us Thursday at 8am to lay out the meeting and its implications for Brevard voters.
09.07.23- Obi-Wan is Powerful
After she founded Moms for Liberty, I dubbed former school board member Tina Descovich Obi-Wan Kenobi. She is more powerful than she could have ever been on the board.
Her accomplishments for kids, families, schools and more have been well documented. And now, she’s been appointed to the Florida Commission on Ethics by Governor DeSantis.
It's a great call by the governor.
Recognizing the leadership Tina exhibits in her daily life is what led to this choice.
She is principled, knowledgeable and effective in her efforts. She’ll bring the same to the commission and I look forward to seeing that in action.
We’ve already seen it in her service to the school board, and now with Moms for Liberty.
The STAR WARS Obi-Wan was wise and led with confidence.
So does our Obi-Wan, Tina Descovich.
09.08.23- Turning Talk to Action
One of the things I like about talk radio is that it’s more than just talk.
Through the years I have seen this audience turn talk into action.
Maybe the best example is Moms for Liberty and how they generated knowledge, understanding and appropriate approach into action for parents, kids and schools with positive results.
This week we saw NASCAR and Liberty Safe reply to talk around the country about actions they had taken that resulted in negative response.
The discussion informed us, allowed us to consider the various angles on the stories and then, if motivated, take proper action in response.
We won’t all agree and that’s great, because it lets us explore all sides of an issue.
Knowledge without action is just trivia. With action, it becomes change, hopefully for the good.
