Here’s a recap of the week…
BML Monday: Government Between You & Your Kids
…the next round of COVID, you playing?
The fad of kids and transgenderism is just that, a fad.Kids announce the shocking news for attention, to belong or to find friends. Why is the government encouraging this behavior and, in today’s IN A HANDBASKET story, actively working to separate kids from their parents for this purpose?
In another kids and government story, a pair of KY students is being prosecuted for terroristic threats to their school because of a TikTok challenge. In this case the school says the parents have responsibility to monitor their kids’ activity.
On a side note- Viera football resumes its season in full this week. The announcement came out Sunday evening.
The threatened debate between Governors Ron DeSantis and Gavin Newsom is one we’d likely watch. It would certainly be better than the show the Republicans put on last week. The Biden folks aren’t too happy about it.
Speaking of the Biden folks, they seem to be launching the next round of COVID- the Game. Are you playing? They also have an idea on alcohol consumption. If you’re a drinker, you won’t think much of it.
We have those stories and more in play for our Monday discussion. Let’s get to it.
BML Tuesday: The Storms: Weather & Donald Trump
While we have weather in our concerns today, Idalia is not the only storm we are watching. President Donald Trump is certainly a force and it seems storms are always around him. A judge in DC has set his trial there in the middle of the Primary Election season.Prosecutors wanted it earlier; the defense team wanted it pushed back to after the 2024 election. Will the timing hurt or help Trump’s campaign?
There have been multiple gag orders imposed on Trump as these cases prepare to go to trial. Legal experts have said that, because of the campaign, President Trump has “enhanced first amendment protections.” I wonder if there are such things and doubt that there should be.
A Palm Beach lawyer is trying to disqualify Trump from the 2024 ballot using an amendment to the constitution that was designed to keep unrepentant Confederates from serving in elected office in the reunified United States. We’ll explore that briefly before Dave Bowman joins us in our 8am hour with DAVE DOES HISTORY where we’ll take a look at when this provision has been used, what its intent was and how successful it was when implemented.
And with football season about to launch, we have the NFL IN A HANDBASKET as we start our day. Could the league finally be waking up to its misguided woke efforts of the past?
BML: WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY
…today is up to you
Today is WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY and any topic you care to share with us is welcome.
For my part: Florida is facing down Hurricane Idalia that is projected to be a category 4 storm when it makes landfall.Brevard schools are closed today as is ESFC.
Speaking of education- at least at its higher levels- forced compliance with its gender politics puts educators’ and coaches’ careers at risk. At the public school level we are seeing wins against schools that interfere in parental supervision of their children.
What some in media are calling a time-out in Governor DeSantis’ presidential campaign is not that at all, but the governor doing his job (and having a great opportunity to show leadership to the American people).
Ustaville Mayor Hal Rose is becoming the washed up athlete of small town mayors as he desperately tries to hang on to a job he’s no longer entitled to hold.
But, today is up to you. We’ll talk whatever you like as you reach out to the Space Coast on this WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY.
BML Thursday: Oh, Canada! Seriously?
…Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic
Is Canada being run by the Southern Poverty Law Center? Our IN A HANDBASKET story will explore why it sure sounds like that’s the case.
We’ve seen numerous stories of corporations ignoring their core customers. NASCAR could not let the trend pass without being equally stupid.
We have the uneducated running America’s schools.A Colorado school is just the latest example.
If you were to build utopia because your state had onerous regulations, where would you build it? Would it be in the state that is causing the problems you’re trying to avoid?
We’ve talked a lot about the Republican Primary Election and the season only gets hotter from this point. In our final hour, Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic will join us to discuss his office, the rewards and challenges of the job and more.
