Seminole County Murder Suspect Denied Bond
(Casselberry, FL)-- A Seminole County man is facing charges in a deadly shooting.Casselberry's Joel [[ jo-ELL ]] Ferrer [[ fuh-REAR ]] was in court yesterday for a shooting last week that killed his aunt's boyfriend at the Regency Oaks Apartments. Police say the two were in an argument when the 22-year-old shot and killed 41-year-old David Jackson. Ferrer is charged with second-degree murder. He was denied bond and will be arraigned next month.
DeSantis Blasts Illinois Law Allowing Non-Citizens To Be Police Officers
(Tallahassee, FL)-- Governor Ron DeSantis is accusing Illinois of diminishing what it means to be a citizen. DeSantis Tweeted yesterday about a bill signed last week by Illinois' governor that allows non-citizens to apply to become police officers. DeSantis says allowing illegal aliens to become police officers shows citizenship is meaningless to the Left. He adds that in Florida, we value our citizen officers who serve and protect our communities. DeSantis also Tweets no illegal alien should have authority over any American citizen, and it's a sad commentary on the state of America that this is even a debate.
Deegan Pushes For Removal Of Confederate Monuments
(Jacksonville, FL)-- Jacksonville's mayor is committed to finishing a job her predecessor started. Donna Deegan recently released her budget proposal for the next fiscal year, and it includes 500-thousand dollars for removing Confederate monuments. Mayor Lenny Curry identified 11 monuments for removal, but only one came down before he left office. Deegan says it's not good for business in the city to continue to have this in the headlines. She also tells First Coast News if other Southern cities can get rid of their monuments there's no reason we shouldn't be able to.
Cocaine Found Floating In Keys
(Miami, FL)-- A Good Samaritan is credited with turning in thousands of dollars worth of drugs. US Border Patrol's Miami Sector announced yesterday that a boater found a brick of cocaine in the Keys on Saturday. The brick was turned into authorities. The border patrol says the brick weighed over two-and-a-half pounds, and it's worth over 40-thousand dollars.
TX Cops Fired Over Swastika Incident
(Southlake, TX) -- A pair of North Texas cops have been fired over an incident involving a swastika. The doodle was spotted during a break in meetings of the Southlake Police Department. In a statement, the department's Chief blasted what he called a "lack of judgment." It was apparently an attempt at humor and not related to the department's patch or logo.The fired officers have not been named.
Man Wins World Scrabble Championship
(Las Vegas, NV)-- An Australian man has been dubbed the scrabble world champion.David Eldar won ten-thousand-dollars and bragging rights after besting his opponent at the world scrabble championship in Las Vegas over the weekend. Over 132 players competed for the title over the course of the four-day event. Eldar played some unique words like "thrimsas" and "sosatie" [[ So-saw-tee ]] but ultimately his final word in the winning game was "women."
