Seminole County Sheriff's Office Detective Arrested

(Sanford, FL) --A member of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office is accused of helping child predators avoid arrest. Detective Jose Tirado was arrested yesterday on charges that include disclosure or use of confidential criminal justice information.Tirado worked in the Crimes Against Children Unit, and he allegedly used his position to warn suspects who were traveling to meet minors for sex. The sheriff's office says those warnings allowed the suspects to avoid arrest and may have put detectives in danger. Tirado has been with the sheriff's office for 13 years, and he has been in the CAC Unit for eight years.

Sex Offender Camp Found In Pinellas County

(Pinellas Park, FL) -- No one seems to know how state-owned land in Pinellas County got overrun by sex offenders.8 On Your Side reported yesterday that about a dozen sex offenders are living in the woods of Pinellas Park in tents in a camp with no electricity or running water. FDOT owns the land, but it says it had no knowledge of the camp.By law, sex offenders have to let authorities know where they're living, but there's no address for the camp. Those who live there say the address they use is about a mile away. Residents of the camp say that Department of Corrections probation officers told them to go there, but the FDC denies that. The camp sits in State Rep. Lindsay Cross' district, and she says she wasn't aware of the camp, either. She tells 8 On Your Side it's dangerous for the community to have offenders living off the grid, and it's also inhumane to have offenders living without running water, electricity or basic housing.

Suspect ID'd In 1993 Murder

(Brooksville, FL) --A 30-year mystery appears to be solved in Hernando County. The sheriff's office announced yesterday it has identified a suspect in the 1993 murder of 12-year-old Jennifer Odom. DNA evidence led investigators to 61-year-old Jeffrey Crum. He was already behind bars serving two life sentences for killing a 17-year-old Pasco County girl a year before Odom went missing. Jessica Floyd was friends with Odom, and she says it's hard to believe this is real because of all the false hope they have had over the years. Floyd also tells ABC Action News she hopes Odom's family can now find peace, relief and closure.

DIS Talking To Jags About Hosting Home Games

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- NFL games could be coming to Volusia County. Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher said yesterday the venue may host Jacksonville Jaguars games. The Jags will need a place to play their home games in 2026 and '27 while their stadium undergoes renovations. Kelleher says the team is already looking at architectural drawings to figure out the sight lines, how many temporary seats will be needed and where the locker rooms would be. The Jags are also looking at other venues, like Orlando's Camping World Stadium, and Kelleher expects they'll make a decision by the end of the year.

(Seattle, WA) --  Call it the Washington dog-poop-war. Pooper Trooper, a pet waste removal company, is suing the Spokane business Scoop Troop, accusing it of copyright infringement and unfair competition. Pooper Trooper filed the lawsuit this week in U.S. District Court. Poopless in Seattle, Poop Scoopin' Boogie and Scoopology, are among a couple dozen poop removal companies in Washington, an ever-growing lucrative industry. But Pooper Trooper argues that Scoop Troop is too similar in its name and services and infringes on Pooper Trooper's trademark.
