Woman Arrested For Shooting In Volusia County
(Daytona Beach, FL)-- A woman is facing charges for a shooting in Volusia County. Daytona Beach Police yesterday arrested Karla Bermudez for a shooting Saturday outside Razzle's nightclub in the Seabreeze Entertainment District. Four people were hurt, but they're expected to survive. The 29-year-old Bermudez is charged with attempted murder.
Body Found In Brevard County
(Merritt Island, FL)-- An investigation is underway after a body was found in Brevard County.The sheriff's office says a man's body was found yesterday morning in Merritt Island in the water at Waterway Park on SR 520. No cause of death has been revealed, but deputies say it's suspicious. The man has not been identified.
Police Raid Home Of Orange County Citizens Task Force Member
(Orlando, FL)-- The home of a woman who helps determine how Orange County spends tourism tax revenue is the subject of a drug investigation. Orlando Police and the SWAT team raided Jane Healy's home in Lake Davis on Greenwood Street on Friday. The Orlando Sentinel reports her 40-year-old son was likely the target of the search. The OPD says officers found meth and cocaine in the home. A 38-year-old woman who lives in the home was arrested for possession of meth with intent to sell and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.The 74-year-old Healy is co-chair of the county's Tourist Development Tax Advisory Committee, and she tells the Sentinel she still plans to be at today's meeting. Healy also used to be the Sentinel's managing editor.
Miami-Dade Police Director In Stable Condition After Suicide Attempt
(Miami, FL)-- The top police official in Miami-Dade County is in the hospital after an apparent suicide attempt. Police Director Freddy Ramirez shot himself in the head Sunday in Hillsborough County.The 52-year-old was found in a car on the side of I-75 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a Tampa hospital, and he's in critical but stable condition. Witnesses tell the Miami Herald that Ramirez had his wife against a wall and had his hands around her throat. CBS News Miami reports a witness saw Ramirez put a gun in his mouth outside the hotel. Ramirez denied that, though, and police say there was not enough evidence to invoke the Baker Act. CBS News Miami reports he's expected to survive, but he may lose vision in one eye.
Volunteer Falls Out Of Hot Air Balloon
(Guilford, CT)-- A man is recovering after falling from a hot air balloon in Connecticut.The victim was volunteering for the Balloon Glow and Laser Show in Guilford this week when the accident happened.He was rushed to the hospital and at last check was in stable condition. The incident is under investigation.
