State Shuts Down Cybercrime Scheme

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Six people are facing charges in connection to an intricate criminal operation in Central Florida. Attorney General Ashley Moody says a teenager led the enterprise by using the dark web to steal personal information from more than 70 victims in order to open credit card accounts in their names. Justin Vassell, is accused of using the fake accounts to buy more than three-hundred-fifty-thousand dollars of merchandise. The five other suspects would then sell the items at pawn shops around Orlando. The suspected ringleader could face over a hundred years in prison.

Brevard County Woman Sentenced For Child's Death

(Titusville, FL)-- A Brevard County woman will spend decades behind bars for her role in a child's death. Palm Bay's Samarial Dubose was sentenced yesterday to 30 years for charges that include aggravated manslaughter of a child. Twelve-year-old Noah Godleski was beaten to death two years ago. His father is also charged with aggravated manslaughter, and News 6 reports he's due in court next month. 

Iger Calls DeSantis Claims About Disney 'Preposterous'

(Orlando, FL)-- Disney's CEO is dismissing what he calls preposterous claims by Governor Ron DeSantis. Bob Iger yesterday denied the company is sexualizing children or seeing a drop in theme park attendance due to its feud with DeSantis. Iger told CNBC the last thing he wants is for Disney to be drawn into any culture wars, but he says the company was within its right to speak about LGBTQ rights. He adds, though, that he's not sure if it was handled very well. As for reports that attendance is down this year, Iger says that's because more places are open since pandemic restrictions were lifted.He says Florida has seen a statewide drop in tourism this year for the same reason.   

Osceola County Man Arrested For Hiding Cocaine In Suitcase At OIA

(Kissimmee, FL)-- An Osceola County man is facing charges for what Customs inspectors allegedly found in his suitcase at Orlando International Airport.Kissimmee's Roman Batista was arrested Tuesday for importing controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute. Federal prosecutors say the 38-year-old had about seven pounds of cocaine hidden in a portable speaker in his suitcase. It was allegedly found Monday during a bag check as he made his way through Customs after a flight from the Dominican Republic. Batista is behind bars in Seminole County, and Homeland Security is investigating.

Meteorologists React To New Hurricane Forecast Model

(Tampa, FL)-- Meteorologists are excited about a new tool to measure and track hurricanes. NOAA announced yesterday it has a new hurricane forecasting system. The Hurricane Analysis and Forecast Systems, or HAFS, will run alongside existing models this season, but it will replace those models next season. Meteorologists have been using an experimental model the last few years, and 10 Tampa Bay meteorologist Natalie Ferrari says she has already seen accuracy improve by as much as 15-percent. Matt Anderson is science and operations officer at National Weather Service Tampa, and he tells Channel 10 this tech is the latest and greatest.   

KY Man Accused Selling Human Bones, Decorated His Home With Them

(Louisville, KY) -- The FBI arrested a Kentucky man accused of selling human bones over Facebook. Officials say agents served a search warrant of James Nott's home after linking him to a ring of illegal human body parts traders that included the former morgue manager at Harvard Medical School. Agents recovered human remains including approximately 40 human skulls, spinal cords, femurs, and hip bones. The FBI said the bones were used to decorate Nott's apartment and he slept with a human skull in his bed.
