DeSantis Responds To Reported Campaign Struggles

(Undated) -- Governor Ron DeSantis doesn't seem too worried about reports that his presidential campaign is struggling. DeSantis told Fox News yesterday that such reports are just narratives driven by the media because they don't want him to be the Republican nominee. He also says the campaign has a long way to go, and he never expected to win seven months before anything happens. DeSantis adds you've got to work, and it requires a lot of toil and tears and sweat, and we're going to do that. An American Greatness poll released Friday shows Iowa Republicans favor Donald Trump by 23 points over DeSantis.

Florida Democrats Hold Conference In Miami Beach

(Miami Beach, FL)-- Florida Democrats hope a recent event serves as the start of a new day for the party. That's the message Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried tried to send at the Leadership Blue fundraising conference in Miami Beach on Saturday. She told attendees the party's mission would be to, in her words, 'back Ron DeSantis into a corner and call out his BS.'Actor Bradley Whitford was the keynote speaker. He called Governor DeSantis 'a cocky little wannabe MAGA dictator, and a [[ bleeping ]] coward.' The event's finale was a drag show. Tickets to the event cost 300 dollars, but there's no word on how much money was raised.

Deadly Shooting In Seminole County

(Sanford, FL)-- A man is dead after a shooting in Seminole County. Sanford Police say he was shot yesterday morning on West 25th Street. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away. Investigators say the man was walking with two relatives when they started arguing with another group. That argument turned physical, and a shot was fired. No arrest has been announced.     

Teen Arrested For Causing Panic In Palm Beach County

(Wellington, FL)-- A teenager is facing charges for causing a panic in Palm Beach County.The sheriff's office announced yesterday that a 15-year-old boy was arrested for felony criminal mischief.He allegedly set off fireworks Saturday inside a bathroom The Mall at Wellington Green. Shoppers mistook the fireworks for gunshots and ran for the exit.One person fell while running for safety and was taken to the hospital. There's no word on their condition.  

Coast Guard Rescues Woman During Medical Emergency

(Clearwater, FL)-- A cruise ship passenger is getting the help she needs after suffering a medical emergency on the Caribbean Princess. The Coast Guard says a crew from Air Station Clearwater was dispatched to the ship about fifty miles off Key Largo yesterday. A 68-year-old woman was hoisted off the ship and transferred to a Miami hospital in stable condition.  

Temps Hit Record High In Brevard County

(Melbourne, FL)-- There's a new temperature record in Brevard County. The city of Melbourne hit a high of 96 degrees yesterday. WESH 2 News reports that breaks the old record of 95 set 25 years ago. The National Weather Service expects today's highs to be near 95, and the heat index could reach 107.   

Harvard Professor May Have Found Fragments Of Alien Technology

(Cambridge, MA)-- A Harvard professor says he may have found parts of alien technology from a meteor that landed on Earth in 2014. Avi Loeb and his team brought the materials from where the meteor crashed off the coast of Papua New Guinea to Harvard to analyze. U.S. Space Command confirms with near certainty that it comes from another solar system and gave Loeb a 10-kilometer radius of where it landed. Loeb said they found several "spherules," or "metallic marbles" that "have colors of gold, blue, brown, and some of them resemble a miniature of the Earth."
