Palm Bay Fire Chief Resigns

(Palm Bay, FL)-- A woman who made history in Brevard County has harsh words for a city official. Palm Bay Fire Chief Leslie Hoog [[ hoag ]] resigned last month after five years, and her resignation letter was released yesterday. She writes that she lost trust in City Manager Suzanne Sherman, and she says Sherman's leadership skills are grossly lacking. Hoog also says if Sherman was left to do her whims, the entire city would suffer. Hoog tells News 6 she'll have no further comment until she speaks to her lawyer.Hoog was first female fire chief in county history.      

Alleged Shooter Declared Incompetent For Trial

(Orlando, FL)-- A man accused of going on a shooting spree in Orange County is not fit for trial. A judge yesterday ruled that Jailen Houston is mentally incompetent to stand trial.Last year when he was 19, Houston allegedly hurt two women while firing shots at a handful of locations around International Drive. Investigators say he was upset because he wasn't allowed to check in to a hotel because he was under 21. Houston will be involuntarily committed to the state. He's due back in court in October. Houston is charged with attempted murder. 

State Rep. Basabe Accused Of Sexual Harassment

(Tallahassee, FL)-- An elected state official is accused of sexual harassment. Two men who used to work for Miami Beach State Rep. Fabian Basabe [[ buh-SAHB-ee ]] filed a lawsuit against him yesterday.The former aide and former intern claim Basabe repeatedly made lewd sexual comments to them, slapped the aide's buttocks and tried to kiss the man who he later hired as an intern. They're asking for over 100-thousand dollars in damages. Basabe's lawyer calls the suit frivolous and meritless, and he says his client will be fully vindicated. The 45-year-old Republican is in his first term representing the 106th District.

Millennials Admit To Lying More Than Other Generations

(Undated) -- Millennials are apparently the worst offenders when it comes to lying on social media and in the workplace. A new survey from online casino PlayStar looked at more than 13-hundred people to ask them how much they lie. More than one in ten millennials said they lie at least once a day. On the other hand, only two percent of Baby Boomers admitted the same. Some of the biggest areas of deception included fabricating something on a resume and lying on social media to impress others. 

Powerball Nears $600M

(Undated) -- The Powerball jackpot is nearing 600-million dollars. No one won Wednesday's grand prize of 546-million, so the jackpot rolls over to Saturday's drawing and will be worth an estimated 590-million dollars.The Mega Millions jackpot is also reaching great heights, and will be worth about 427-million dollars when those numbers are drawn this Friday.
