More Than $1M Worth Of Cocaine Found In Florida Keys
(Florida Keys, FL) -- Boaters in the Florida Keys are helping federal agents prevent drugs from getting into the state. Border Patrol officials in the Miami Sector say boaters have discovered more than one-million dollars worth of cocaine and cannabis off the coast of Monroe County over the past week. In total, there was about one-hundred-fifty pounds of drugs. Officials have not said exactly where the illegal substances were located.
FAMU Files Revised Lawsuit Over State Funding
(Tallahassee, FL)-- Some Florida A&M students are pushing forward with a lawsuit against the state. Lawyers representing six students filed a federal lawsuit Monday in Tallahassee against Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. and other state education officials.The students claim FAMU's course offerings perpetuate segregation-era policies and violate the constitution and the Civil Rights Act. This is a revised complaint after the judge threw out their first lawsuit filed last year.
State Reacts To New Law Restricting Who Can Own Land

(Parkland, FL)-- A woman who lost her son in the Parkland school shooting feels like she had to stand in the spot where he lost his life. Linda Schulman and other relatives of those killed in the shooting got to visit the building where Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people five years ago.Schulman's son was geography teacher Scott Beigel [[ beagle ]]. He gave up his life to protect students that day, and Schulman says she needed to stand where he taught his last class because she never got to say goodbye.Tony Montalto visited yesterday, too, in honor of his 14-year-old daughter, Gina. Despite the time that has passed, he tells the Sun-Sentinel he still doesn't know if he has processed all of it.
Some Families Request Reenactment Of Parkland School Shooting
(Parkland, FL) -- Some families of victims in the Parkland school mass shooting want to see a reenactment of what happened more than five years later. Family members of four victims and one survivor filed a request earlier this week, asking a judge to allow a fake gunman to enter the 1200 building at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and open fire. Court documents say the goal of the exercise would be to record it for future civil cases connected to the shooting. No hearing on the issue has been scheduled yet.Starting today, the Broward County state attorney will escort families through the building over the next few weeks before it's torn down.
Dangerous Forgotten Baby Prank Played On Mall Shoppers In NJ
(Paramus, NJ)-- Police are looking for pranksters who played a forgotten baby stunt on mall shoppers in Paramus, New Jersey. It involved what looked like a baby in an infant carrier left on the roof of a car as the driver took off. Panicked shoppers flooded 9-1-1 with calls on Monday about a Tesla driving around with a baby stranded on the roof, not knowing it was a doll. Police say the idea was to capture shocked reactions and post it to YouTube.
