Judge Blocks Parts Of New Florida Election Law
(Tallahassee, FL) -- Portions of Florida's new election law are temporarily on hold. A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction yesterday against parts of the legislation that would prevent non-U.S. citizens from handling voter-registration applications. He also blocked a change that would make it a felony for registration workers to keep personal information of voters. The ruling sided with several groups, including the N-double-ACP, who argued the law was unconstitutional. Governor Ron DeSantis signed the measure in May, claiming it would be needed to ensure election security.
Teen Arrested For Volusia County Shooting
(DeLand, FL) --A teenager is facing charges after a shooting in Volusia County. DeLand Police arrested 16-year-old Tywon Patton yesterday after a foot chase on East Division Ave. He was wanted for a shooting Monday at the Enclave at Pine Oaks Apartments. Police say a man was shot in the head and is in critical condition. Patton is facing charges that include aggravated battery with a firearm.
Man Electrocuted In Brevard County
(Cocoa, FL) --A man is dead after he was electrocuted in Brevard County. It happened yesterday near Cocoa at a home on Lake Drive. The sheriff's office says the 42-year-old was working on a home project and mistakenly thought the current was off when he touched a wire.He has not been identified.
Parkland School Building To Be Open Today For Survivors And Families Of Victims
(Parkland, FL) --Today will likely be an emotional day for many impacted by the Parkland school shooting. The Broward State Attorney will allow survivors and the families of victims to tour the 12-hundred building at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. That's where Nikolas Cruz went on his deadly rampage five years ago. Prosecutors and victims advocates will be available to accompany those who wish to view the crime scene before it's demolished.
Bud Light Selling Less Than Water In Some Places
(ST. Louis, MO) -- Bud Light is now selling for less than water in some American warehouses. A warehouse in Pennsylvania said a 30-pack of Bud Light was nine dollars. The manager there says he has cases of water that cost more. This comes after the Bud Light commercial featuring transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney led to some customers boycottingthe brand. Before the controversy, Bud Light was the top selling beer in the U.S. but now sales have dropped nearly 30 percent.
