Here’s a recap of the week…

BML Monday: Honesty Shamed

…right is right no matter who says it

Hockey, basketball, baseball and Hitler all have something in common today. Facts are facts regardless of who speaks them. Our Monday begins in the NHL where the distraction of culture wars has become evident. On a similar front, Ron DeSantis was talking sports on the campaign trail and was accused of racism for speaking factually about professional athletes and the games they play.

The Florida House District 33 race is taking shape and beginning to settle just a bit. The US House is moving to end President Biden’s disastrous mortgage penalty plan. President Trump’s support is growing after his indictment, but so is the skepticism.

Oh, and Russia’s contract troops in the war on Ukraine turned on Russia Friday. It was a tense weekend that now seems to be settled and the aftermath continues. What that leads to remains to be seen.

BML Tuesday: Bye-bye DEI?

DAVE DOES HISTORY

Could Diversity, Equity and Inclusion be on its way out of Brevard Schools? The director has resigned and the district is restructuring and we’ll keep an eye out.

Blackrock’s CEO says his company was hurt by Florida pulling pension funds from investing with the woke firm.Maybe the message is being delivered.Governor DeSantis has announced his border plan should he be elected president. It sounds familiar, but could he get congress to play along?

We’ll open our day IN A HANDBASKET where NYC apparently doesn’t have enough to worry about. If pizza ovens are suddenly your priority, maybe things are better off than you thought. When it comes to our dollars we are certainly able to vote with our dollars. Are politics so invasive that we won’t be able to buy or support anything?

We’ve been looking at the creation of our constitution with Dave Bowman. Perhaps the most famous motion of the entire convention, and the one that more than one author has sold books praising, was Benjamin Franklin rising on the 28th of June, 1787 and proposing that each session of the Convention start with a prayer. The general idea was to invoke the Deity's guidance in forming the new government. But... there were at least three problems with the idea. We’ll explore them with Dave Does History in our 8am hour.

BML: WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY

…Inquisition Day

It’s your day on BML. WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY is the one day each week you may discuss any topic you choose when you call the show. I’m not going to get to everything you’re interested in.Today’s your day to clue us in when you call us at 321-768-1240.

I’ll start the day IN A HANDBASKET with an update on those Bud Light marketing executives that put the brand in a race to the bottom. Anheuser-Busch is not giving up. Their summer ad campaign wants you back. Are you going?

Locally, Brevard Schools’ book policy is in the news again and the sheriff’s office is being sued for false arrest. A Florida judge has refused to block the new law stopping union dues from being withheld from some state employee paychecks.

The US Supreme Court has ruled on state legislatures and courts when it comes to election law. Apparently legislatures don’t have all the power they believed they had.

And, today is Inquisition Day as the Brevard County Commission joins the John Tobia campaign to malign three of the county’s constitutional officers to further Tobia’s ambition to unseat Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic.

Property Appraiser Dana Blickley, Tax Collector Lisa Cullen and Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic will join us in Thursday’s 7am and 8am hours of BML.

BML Thursday: The Inquisition Response

… The Constitutionals

It’s rare for us to devote an entire show to one topic. There may be a theme, but one topic is rare. Today is that exception.

Yesterday the county commission, save one, was manipulated by one member into taking part in his campaign to unseat another Republican elected official in the county. Johnus Disgustus Tobia conned his fellow commissioners, except for Tom Goodson, to scrutinize three of the constitutional offices’ budgets for what appears to be purely political purposes.

It was a fiasco second to none.Commission Chair Rita Pritchett was clueless as she moderated the circus while turning majority of the inquisition over to Tobia. Rob Feltner, an ally of Johnus Disgustus, appeared to try and back away from his support of the effort, much of which was directed at his former boss, Property Appraiser Dana Blickley. Tobia, in an event he instigated, handled the majority of the questioning of these county-wide officials. He was blatantly transparent in this attempt to paint himself as a conservative, budget watching inquisitor. What he did was learn things he did not know about the Supervisor of Elections office that he seeks while admitting more than once that Supervisor Tim Bobanic is far more competent at the job than Tobia could ever be. Tom Goodson was the only commissioner not taken in by Johnus Disgustus’ political grandstand. In fact, Goodson stated more than once that they were wasting time and he left the meeting before it came to a close.

In hour one I’ll give you my impression of the meeting and set the stage for our guests Property Appraiser Dana Blickley, Tax Collector Lisa Cullen and Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic in hours two and three. They will give us their perceptions and reaction to…the Inquisition.

BML Friday: Supreme Court gets actual DEI

…M4L Summit Update/How to Watch

It’s almost as if America needs to be institutionalized. If the criteria are being a danger to yourself or others, we are marching in that direction. Oregon gives us the example IN A HANDBASKET this morning.

The Supreme Court has spoken on race based college admissions. They are a nonstarter with the court. We’ll look at the court’s reasoning, debating justices and Harvard not caring what the Supreme Court has to say.

Thanks to Property Appraiser Dana Blickley, Tax Collector Lisa Cullen and SOE Tim Bobanic for taking time with us yesterday in detailing their perspectives of Wednesday’s Inquisition by the County Commission.  Florida Today finally caught up to the event, but like the county commission, doesn’t quite understand what’s going on.

Former Deputy Scot Peterson was found not guilty of neglect and other charges in the Parkland massacre. It’s sure to outrage some, but was the verdict right?

Brevard Schools is still wrangling with dress code. The question I’m left with is: who’s in charge?

Moms for Liberty:

You can watch the Moms for Liberty Joyful Warriors Summit through their website with presidential candidate speeches and more. Watch the Summit here. Monique Miller will update us on the event as we begin the 7am hour.
