DeSantis Details First Campaign Policy Of His Presidential Campaign

(Eagle Pass, TX) -- Governor Ron DeSantis is laying out his first formal campaign policy of his presidential run. The governor rolled out his plan to crackdown on illegal immigration after spending time in Eagle Pass, Texas yesterday. If elected, DeSantis says he will declare a national emergency on his first day in office and send military personnel to the U.S.-Mexico border. He also promised to build a wall at the southern border to prevent a steady flow of migrants into the country. The state of Florida deployed hundreds of National Guard troops last month to help Texas border towns with security efforts.

More Than 200 Florida Laws To Take Effect This Weekend

(Tallahassee, FL) -- More than two-hundred laws are scheduled to take effect in Florida this weekend. This includes the state's more than one-hundred-billion-dollar budget, expanding eligibility for school vouchers for students and efforts to boost affordable housing. Several other measures signed into law that are deemed controversial will allow residents to carry guns without a concealed weapons license and expand a ban on discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten to eighth grade. The legislation will take effect on Saturday, July First.

DeSantis Announces Over Two-Thousand Bonuses For Law Enforcement Recruits

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Thousands of law enforcement officers are taking advantage of a new program in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis announced yesterday that over 22-hundred bonuses have been issued to law enforcement recruits in its first year. The Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program has attracted recruits from 48 states and two US territories. The bonuses are worth five-thousand dollars after taxes, and it has cost the state over 15-million dollars. DeSantis says the program ensures our law enforcement officers don't have to think twice about the decision to support their families in a state that puts them first. 

One Arrested For Stealing Miami Police Cruiser

(Miami, FL)-- One person is accused of stealing a police cruiser in Miami-Dade County.Miami Police say the patrol car was stolen around 8:00 last night at Jackson Memorial Behavioral Health Hospital on Northwest 9th Ave. The suspect was arrested just a few blocks from the hospital. 

Port Canaveral Announce Fireworks Plans

(Port Canaveral, FL)-- Fourth of July plans are in place in parts of Brevard County. Port Canaveral announced yesterday its free fireworks show will take place on Sunday, July 2nd at Exploration Tower.Cocoa Beach's fireworks show will take place Saturday, July 3rd, and Cocoa Village's show is set for Sunday, July 4th.     

LSU Wins 2023 Men's College World Series Championship

(Omaha, NE)-- The LSU Tigers are the 2023 Men's College World Series champions.LSU defeated Florida 18-4 in the decisive Game Three of the championship series in Omaha. Six separate batters drove-in two or more runs to lead LSU to the program's seventh national championship title.

2011, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was found guilty of 17 of 20 counts levied against him in a federal corruption trial in Chicago. Among the counts Blagojevich was found guilty of was one that charged him with attempted extortion for trying to barter favors for an appointment to President Obama's vacated seat in the U.S. Senate.

2005, the BTK serial killer Dennis Rader pled guilty to a series of murders in the Wichita, Kansas area.The murders happened between 1974 and 1991 and the 60-year-old killer managed to elude authorities for 30 years.
