BML Tuesday: Ignoring the Law (and reality)
Thanks for letting me get away for a long weekend.I didn’t go anywhere; I stayed at home. The weekend was relaxing, reuniting, reassuring and restful. Add a prayer to that and we have a Baptist sermon!
I had a weekend full of friends, family and fun. It started with lunch with a friend on Thursday: the same with a different friend on Friday. Saturday was the birthday celebration. I made it to church on Sunday and had a great conversation with one of our pastors and then ran into several friends while there. I ran into another friend as I went to breakfast on Monday. My native land turns 160 today- it’s West Virginia Day.
It’s time to get back to the conversation. Authorities are ignoring the law as it applies to them. When the lawmen are lawless, there is no law. The College Board is saying it won’t comply with Florida Law when it comes to AP classes. I would expect the DeSantis administration to not take kindly to that. A threat by the D-33 Rep has come to fruition as the Brevard Zoo saw $2m in state funding for the proposed aquarium whacked from the budget by Governor DeSantis. Petty politics are the rule of the day in D-33. I’m pretty sure that’s not what the founders envisioned.
We’ll get a look at one founder with Dave Bowman in our 3rd hour. Perhaps the best known Framer/Founder these days is Alexander Hamilton. But, as the case may be, not for the reasons for which he would have liked to have had remembered or had sung about in a Broadway musical.
BML: WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY
…well?
There are those who will tell us that the prosecution of Donald Trump shows that the law applies to everyone, no matter who they are. That is how it should be. The reality is something completely different. The Clintons, the Bidens and other power players are glaring examples that there is no equal justice under the law. The president’s drug abusing, whoremongering, law breaking son just inked a sweetheart deal with federal prosecutors that will all but eliminate penalties for his criminal acts. Normally a federal plea deal requires full cooperation on any criminal matter in which the defendant was involved. Will this deal require the same? I’m guessing not.
I imagine the Hunter Biden story will have much of our attention on this WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY.It should. There are other things that may grab our interest. IN A HANDBASKET we’ll see that Anheuser-Busch is trying to recapture its core consumers. Can it? Not without stoking the ire of the Alphabet mafia that demands complete obedience to its dictates. There is no win for Bud Light in its self-generated torment.
Elsewhere, the D-33’s threat to the Brevard Zoo was carried out by the governor’s veto of funds for the proposed aquarium. Petty politics are the rule of the day in D-33. The College Board cares not for obeying Florida law and will not consider changes to AP courses it offers. That could generate in interesting battle for our classrooms and a campaign highlight for Ron DeSantis. The state is fighting a lawsuit over felon voting restoration and the Brevard County Commission is being used by one commissioner as a pawn in a political game that none of the commission is equipped to play,.
It’s WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY.What’s on YOUR mind?
BML Thursday: Johnus Disgustus…
…the County Commission & Constitutional Offices
How do you stop a bully? You stand up to him. While we have been doing that for quite a while with IN A HANDBASKET, we’re seeing others call out the radical culture warriors for just what they are.Elon Musk is even getting in on the act.
The Brevard County Commission should be embarrassed. It’s allowed one of its own with ambitions for other office to drag the entire commission into his campaign and attempts at slandering another Republican office holder.Johnus Disgustus wants to be Supervisor of Elections when he grows up. He’s using his position as commissioner to cajole the other board members to join in a meaningless budget witch hunt using the county’s other Constitutional Officers as fodder for the ploy. The constitutionals are having none of it and the upcoming hearing could prove to be an education for the arrogant, leadership-incapable wannabe SOE.
The Durham testimony in congress is laying out just how corrupt the government has become. Adam Schiff was part of it in propagating lies about President Trump. The House has handled Schiff.Durham seems to be handling the rest.
BML Friday: Decisions
…mini-subs, women, AI and more
A while back we had the story of a liberal woman who was frustrated that she could not find a traditional man who was not conservative. Today we explore the other side of the coin: women, attractiveness and happiness.
It’s clear we are a divided nation. When we are fighting over bacon there is a clear problem!
We’ve talked AI a good bit. Now AI is trying to edit our opinions.
OceanGate’s Titan sub appears to have imploded shortly after launching to the Titanic. It appears the designer took some shortcuts that experienced ocean farers would not have considered. Questionable decisions include design, construction and crew considerations. There’s another- would you have chosen to take this trip?
Florida is suing the Biden administration over college accreditation while it fights a suit over felon restoration of voting rights.
