DeSantis Sues Biden Administration Over College Accreditation

(Tampa, FL) -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is suing the Biden Administration over the college accreditation system. The governor was in Tampa yesterday where he explained the federal lawsuit the state filed against the president and the U.S. Department of Education. DeSantis says private accreditation agencies have too much over what the state is doing and believes they are unconstitutional.The lawsuit states the programs dictate education standards within higher education. The state wants to permanently block the current process.

Death Warrant Signed For Brevard County Killer

(Tallahassee, FL)-- A Brevard County killer is a step closer to being executed. Governor Ron DeSantis yesterday signed the death warrant for James Phillip Barnes. In 1988, the 61-year-old raped Patsy Miller at knifepoint in her condo in Melbourne, beat her to death with a hammer and set her body on fire. He pled guilty in 2006 and was sentenced to death in 2007.Barnes' execution date was set for August Third at 6 p.m. He'll be the fifth person put to death in Florida this year. 

SpaceX Launch Planned For This Morning

(Cape Canaveral, FL)-- For the second straight day, a rocket will be launched on the Space Coast.SpaceX is planning to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 9:56 this morning. The rocket will carry 56 Starlink satellites that'll help spread broadband internet around the world. United Launch Alliance launched a Delta Four Heavy rocket yesterday morning.   

Shots Fired During Robbery In Miami-Dade County

(Miami, FL)-- A Miami-Dade County couple is lucky to be alive after a robbery outside their home. Peter Gonzalez was robbed of his jewelry yesterday morning at gunpoint. Gonzalez and his wife decided to chase the thief in his car, and during the chase, the robber apparently shot at the couple four times. They weren't hit, and they kept following until the alleged thief got out his car and fled on foot. No arrest has been announced. Gonzalez tells 7News he never thought about ditching his pursuit because, in his words, 'I wanted to get the guy.'   

Hasbro Brings Back Furby

(Pawtucket, RI)-- Hasbro is bringing back a toy craze from the '90s. The toymaker launched a new version of its Furby animatronic toy on Amazon Thursday to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The 70-dollar toy will also be available in stores nationwide beginning July 15th after an almost ten-year absence. More than 40-million Furby toys were sold in the three years after it was first released in 1998.
