Trump To Be In Miami Court Tuesday
(Miami, FL)-- Donald Trump is expected in Miami federal court tomorrow to face the 37 charges brought forth by the Department of Justice. The indictment accuses the former President of putting national security at risk by mishandling classified documents including sensitive military information and nuclear program secrets. U.S. district court judge Aileen Cannon was selected at random from four federal judges in the district to oversee the case. Cannon, who was appointed by Trump in November 2020, is the same judge who oversaw the former president's civil case which challenged the FBI's seizure of classified docs from his estate at Mar-a-Lago last summer.
Suspect Dead After Shooting, Standoff In Seminole
(Pinellas County, FL)-- Investigators with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office say a woman who was shot eleven times is expected to survive. Deputies responded to the home on 134th Street North in Seminole around 1:30 a.m. after the victim ran to a neighbor's home. The suspect, later identified as 65-year-old Wayne Lovell Dew, was holed up with multiple weapons inside the home where the woman was shot. After about seven hours, SWAT officers entered the home and found Dew dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Woman Arrested After Spray Painting Miami Church
(Miami-Dade, FL)-- Miami-Dade Police are charging a woman with vandalism after an arrest at a local church. Around 3 a.m., officers responded to Saint Timothy Catholic Church in Miami where walls on the outer building were spray painted. Forty-four-year-old Alfa Illescas was arrested after police reviewed security footage. The words "pigs" and "perverts" were sprayed on the church along with upside down crosses and other graffiti.
Petition To Relocate "Lonely" Giraffe To Texas
(McGregor, TX)-- An online petition to relocate a "lonely" giraffe from a Mexico park to a Texas ranch has nearly 80-thousand signatures. The petition on change-dot-org is called "Speak up for Benito the Lonely Giraffe." Benito is currently at Parque Central in Juarez and petition organizers want him relocated to Blue Hills Ranch in McGregor, which is about 18 miles south of Waco. The ranch has a new giraffe farm where Benito would join giraffes named Blue and Google.The ranch's website says they will pay for transportation and a veterinarian for Benito, and they are working with an animal rescue in Juarez to relocate the lonely giraffe.
