Three In Custody Following Back-To-Back Robberies Of Postal Workers In Orange County
(Pine Hills, FL)-- Three suspects are facing federal charges after two local postal employees were robbed in separate incidents Friday in Brevard and Orange Counties. Officials say the first happened around noon when "two or three men" in black masks brandishing firearms robbed a mail carrier in Melbourne. About 90 minutes later, deputies were called to the 21-hundred block of Allegheny Court in response to a similar report. In both incidents, the robbers made off with the postal workers' 'arrow keys,' which can be used to open postal collection or mail boxes.
Shooting In Brevard County
(Melbourne, FL)-- A man is hurt after a shooting in Brevard County. Melbourne Police say he was shot Saturday night on Cedar Drive.He was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. Police say they're looking for at least one suspect that fled the scene by car. The motive has not been revealed.
St. Lucie County Girl Bitten By Shark
(Fort Pierce, FL)-- It'll take more than a shark bite to keep a St. Lucie County girl out of the water. Fort Pierce 13-year-old Ella Reed was bitten by a shark last week at Fort Pierce Inlet State Park. She says she was in waist-deep water with a friend when she was bitten by a four-foot bull shark. Ella was bitten on the stomach, arm and leg. Her friend drove her home in a golf cart, and she was taken to the hospital.She's home recovering, and she tells 7News once her stitches are out, she'll be back at the beach.
New Law Restricts Teens Driving Golf Carts On Public Streets
(Tallahassee, FL)-- A new law restricts teenagers driving golf carts on Florida's public streets.The law that Governor Ron DeSantis signed Thursday night takes effect July 1st. It allows 15-year-olds to drive golf carts on public streets if they have a learner's permit and 16-year-olds to drive if they have a driver's license. Anyone 18 or older must have a valid government-issued identification.
GM Recalling Nearly One-Million Vehicles Over Faulty Airbags
(Undated) --General Motors is announcing the recall of nearly one-million vehicles due to faulty airbags. The recall includes Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia vehicles from 2014 through 2017 with air bags produced by ARC Automotive. Federal regulators are urging ARC to announce a full recall of 67-million of their airbag inflators made before 2018 after it was discovered they could explode and spray shrapnel during deployment. General Motors says drivers affected by the recall can have their airbag module replaced for free.
Minnesota Man Invents Beer-Powered Motorcycle
(Bloomington, MN) --A Minnesota man who invented a rocket-powered toilet and a jet-powered coffee pot has come up with a motorcycle that runs on beer. Ky Michaelson said the beer-powered bike he created in his garage in a Minneapolis suburb has a 14-gallon keg with a heating coil instead of a gas-powered engine.The coil heats the beer to 300 degrees, then super-heated steam in the nozzles propels the bike. Michaelson said he's not a drinker so he can't think of any better use for beer than to run his motorcycle.
