Florida Teacher Unions Sue Over New State Law

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A group of teachers unions are challenging a new Florida law. Several organizations, including the Florida Education Association, filed a lawsuit against a measure signed yesterday by Governor Ron DeSantis. The legislation prohibits unions from requiring memberships and bans fees from automatically coming out of employee's paychecks. The lawsuit claims the law is unconstitutional by violating the right to freedom of speech and association. The FEA says the move is trying to silence teachers and other school employees. The governor says his administration will not go quietly.

Volusia County Teen Arrested For Bringing Gun To School

(Deltona, FL) --A Volusia County teenager is accused of taking a gun to school. The sheriff's office announced yesterday that Deltona 15-year-old Isaiah Jones was arrested for possessing a firearm on school property. He allegedly posted video on Instagram showing him with a gun in a restroom at Galaxy Middle School. Deputies say they found out about the video on Tuesday, but Jones told them it was recorded earlier than that. Investigators also say the gun was stolen, and more charges are pending.

Orlando Assesses New Permit Rules For Downtown Bars

(Orlando, FL) --The early reviews are in for Orlando's new rules for downtown bars. This past weekend was the first that required bars to have a permit to serve alcohol after midnight. David Barilla is the acting director of the Downtown Development Board, and he says everything went well. Some bars reported long lines as they had to scan IDs and use metal detector wands on customers. One bar owner, though, says the long lines were good for his business. He tells the Orlando Sentinel when customers see a line, they're more inclined to want to come in because they feel like they're missing out on something.

Seniors Warned About Using Weed

(Seattle, WA) --Doctors are warning seniors about the risks of using marijuana products. A study out of California shows an 18-hundred percent spike in ER visits for older people using marijuana products over the last 15 years. Doctors at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle say the problem is more potent weed and interactions with other drugs. Seniors may be using other medications that interact in a bad way with marijuana. And, seniors who may have used pot in the 60s and 70s need to know today's marijuana products are much stronger across the board. They're urging seniors to consult with their doctor before using marijuana products.

Wendy's Testing Out New AI Chatbot

(Columbus, OH) --Wendy's is testing out a new AI chatbot that can take drive-thru orders. The fast-food chain partnered with Google to create "Wendy's FreshAI," which can take verbal orders from customers. Company officials told The Wall Street Journal the technology won't replace existing workers. Instead, it gives employees more time to focus on serving food and taking care of customer needs. Wendy's is rolling out the chatbot in Columbus, Ohio, next month. There's no word on a large-scale rollout just yet.
