Each day Bill records a MICKnugget, a one-minute take on some issue that got his attention that morning. Below are the scripts for last week’s NUGGETS.
CLICK HERE if you’d like to hear them. Here are the scripts:
04.03.23- Action & Reaction
Monday was about action and reaction.
Incorrect information from law enforcement results in the public being in danger.
Creators of AI technology countering bias with their own biased AI gives us dueling systems.
Indicting President Trump produced ardent support in donations to his campaign.
And hiring an interim superintendent of schools resulted in chaos brought on by a consultant who wanted to sell his services to the board from an a la carte menu as opposed to leading as he claimed he could.
Unintended or unforeseen consequences are often the result of ill-thought-out actions and we see too much of it.
How about leaders, wherever they are, stop for a minute and think about the goals they want accomplished and then take decisive action in that direction?
This is not difficult, but it does require thought and planning.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
04.04.23- Law & Order
Law & Order is a great crime drama series. Sadly, it’s not the real state of affairs in NYC.
No, today that system is turned on its head as President Donald Trump is arraigned in a Manhattan court room.
The decisions of the Manhattan DA have come into question, and rightfully so.
There’s a history there. And recently, a very bad example.
Duh…duh!
A NYC parking lot attendant was assaulted by a man who appeared to be trying to steal a car. The assailant drew a gun and shot the attendant in a struggle.
The attendant got control of the weapon and shot his assailant, stopping the attack.
Both were charged with multiple weapon and attempted murder offenses.
After public outcry, the attendant’s charges were dropped. After all, he was only defending himself. Charging him initially was dumb.
But, it does make me think there may be hope for Donald Trump after all.
04.05.23- When Idiots Call
WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY’S have an inherent danger on BML. Normally, I control the topics we discuss and callers off topic are not taken.
WOW lets anyone bring up anything they like.
On this day what I thought could be an interesting discussion on faith, creation and the creator turned into an ugly moment brought to us by an ugly man.
This caller acknowledged intelligent design, but refused to tie anything faith related to his “creator.”
Asked for definition of that creator, he could not come up with one. Instead, he launched into an anti-Semitic tirade slandering Jesus with a typical slur for Jewish people.
He showed his ignorance and his hateful heart all in a few quick words.
I called him an idiot, dumped his call and moved on.
Future callers were right, the guy needs prayer and enlightenment.
He also needs to quit calling my show!
04.06.23- The Trans Phenomenon
The trans-phenomenon seems to be sweeping America. It’s a very small group of people who have captured the imagination (good word) of nearly every aspect of society.
From news and politics to even entertainment and advertising, you can’t turn your head without seeing trans issues.
Bud Light recently hired a trans-woman to tout its beer during the Final Four. Nike turned around and hired the same dude to model it’s sports bras and other ladies sportswear.
Have they forgotten their core customers? Does this play well in Peoria?
California and a slew of other states are engaging in trans activism against West Virginia’s law protecting female athletes in scholastic competition.
Gavin Newsom came to Florida to deride Governor Ron DeSantis’ policies regarding protecting kids among other things.
None of it is making sense to anybody who has sense at all.
We should trust the science and let reality rule the day.
04.07.23- Safety or Snowflakes?
An Orange County teacher has been fired after asking his students to write their own obituaries.
Psychology teacher Jeffrey Keene, knowing there was an upcoming active shooter drill for the school, issued the assignment in his first period class.
One student was upset by the idea and a supervisor was sitting in on Keene’s class for period two. That supervisor stopped the lesson and declared it inappropriate.
I’ll remind you that active shooter drills are mandated for Florida schools by the Stoneman-Douglas School Safety Act.
It seems entirely appropriate that this lesson be part of the preparation. It certainly did not warrant firing the teacher.
We need to make a decision. Will we live in reality where these things are discussed or will fantasy rule our education with transgender athletes and the like?
School shootings are a reality with lifetime consequences.
This teacher deserves his job back!
