NASA/SpaceX Launch Crew-6 Mission

FLORIDA TODAY- An international crew of three astronauts and a cosmonaut launched from Kennedy Space Center early Thursday, kicking off a roughly six-month science mission to the International Space Station.

At 12:34 a.m. EST, a Falcon 9 rocket vaulted off pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center with NASA's SpaceX Crew-6 mission, the seventh flight under contract between the agency and California-based company. Onboard were NASA's Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg, the United Arab Emirates' Sultan Alneyadi, and Russian cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

Four Killed In Brevard County Shooting

(Canaveral Groves, FL)-- Four people are dead after a shooting in Brevard County. Rockledge's Domenico Gigante was arrested yesterday after the victims were found in a home in Canaveral Groves on Alan Shepherd Ave.Sheriff Wayne Ivey says one of the victims was Gigante's 15-year-old daughter. The other victims are a 35-year-old woman Gigante had a prior relationship with, a 36-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman. A nine-year-old and a six-year-old were found at the home, but they were not hurt. Ivey says the 36-year-old Gigante broke into the home yesterday morning, shot the victims, and returned to his home where he was arrested. He's charged with four counts of first-degree murder. There's no word on a motive.

Ivey said Gigante is an extremely violent individual with an extremely violent past. He has prior arrests over the last 20 years for domestic violence, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and cruelty to animals.

Explosives Found In Luggage On Flight To Seminole County

(Sanford, FL) -- A man planning to fly to Seminole County is accused of having an explosive in his luggage.Mark Muffley was arrested Monday in Pennsylvania before boarding a flight to Sanford. The explosive is described as a circular compound made of commercial grade fireworks, and it had two fuses attached. Prosecutors say it was found hidden in the lining of his checked luggage. A can of butane and a lighter were also found.  Muffley is due in court today in Pennsylvania.   

Fire On Plane Leads To Emergency Landing At JIA

(Jacksonville, FL)-- Ten people are hurt after a fire on a flight that made an emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport. Spirit flight 259 took off from Dallas yesterday afternoon on its way to Orlando, but it diverted to JIA once the fire started. Spirit Airlines says the fire started when a battery in a passenger's personal item ignited in an overhead bin. A passenger tells News4Jax a battery-powered vape tied to a battery charging inside the compartment ignited a piece of luggage next to it. Passengers tell First Coast News they spent about 20 minutes putting the fire out by pouring water on it. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue says those taken to the hospital are expected to survive. 

Over $400K Worth Of Stolen Property Found In Polk County

(Lake Wales, FL) -- A tip is credited with leading police to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property in Polk County. Lake Wales Police announced recently they found over 400-thousand dollars worth of stolen property on North Miami Street. Investigators found two Ford Cobra Jet drag race cars worth about 100-thousand dollars each. Police searched the property last month after getting a tip. Fifty-one-year-old Billy Joe Byrd was arrested for dealing in stolen property. Police are pursuing other suspects, and anyone with information is asked to contact them.    

NFLPA Releases Team Report Cards

(Tampa, FL) -- Buccaneers players see lots of room for improvement in the organization. The NFL Players Association released team report cards yesterday. About 13-hundred players across the league were asked to evaluate their team in several categories. The Bucs ranked 26th out of 32 teams. Players gave the team an 'A' for strength coaches but an 'F' for travel. The NFLPA says the players feel the strength coaches significantly add to their success. As for travel, the Bucs get low marks because they make certain players have roommates, and they don't offer their players first-class seats.
