Lawmakers Move To Expand Parental Rights Law

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Florida lawmakers are moving forward with plans to expand the Parental Rights in Education law. A bill filed yesterday by Representative Adam Anderson would require students up to 12th grade to go by personal titles and pronouns that they are assigned at birth. It would also expand a ban on discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade to reach students pre-K through eighth grade. The measure includes both public and charter schools in the state. The legislature will bring up the bill during the legislative session, which starts next month.

Florida College Enrollment Drop

Former Orange County Deputy Facing Child Porn Charges

(Orlando, FL)-- A former Orange County deputy is facing child porn charges. The sheriff's office announced yesterday that the charges were filed against Charles Cruz. This comes after he was arrested Friday for inappropriately engaging with a minor while on the job. He was fired after that arrest. Deputies say Cruz confessed to the child porn charges. Sheriff John Mina says there are no words to convey his disgust that someone who once wore an Orange County Sheriff's Office uniform was involved in this behavior.

Tampa Lawmaker Blasts New Bill That Would 'Cancel' Democratic Party

(Tallahassee, FL)-- A Tampa lawmaker believes a new bill is a complete and absolute abuse. State Rep. Fentrice Driskell was talking yesterday about a bill that would decertify the Democratic Party, or any party, that once supported slavery. Republican State Senator Blaise Ingoglia [[in-GO-lee-uh]] filed the bill that he calls the Ultimate Cancel Act.  House Minority Leader Driskell says SB 1248 is unconstitutional, meritless and will go nowhere. She also tells News Channel 8 the bill is a distraction from the Republicans' failed policies.

Viral Video Shows Car Dealer Peeing On WI Woman's ID

(Kenosha, WI)-- Police in Wisconsin are looking into a viral video that appears to show a car dealer urinating on a woman's driver's license. In a Facebook post, the victim said she left her ID at a used car dealership in Kenosha over the weekend. A few hours later, she was horrified to see a video of someone peeing on it making the rounds on social media. It's unclear if anyone will be held accountable. On a positive note, a dealership in Racine [[ ray-seen ]] wants to offer the victim a free car.
