Here’s a recap of the week…

BML WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY

…what’s on your mind?

As we catch up today, it’s up to you where we go. It’s our one day a week where you can discuss whatever you like. News, politics, social issues, media, whatever it is, it’s welcome (as you are) on today’s BML.

For my part, it’s funny how famous people don’t want the spotlight they so desperately sought. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are a great example. Disney workers don’t want to go back to the office. Who do they think they are, teachers? Governor Ron DeSantis has the media whining like Harry and Meghan and it’s almost as funny. My native land (WV) has proposed concealed carry on college campuses. Why doesn’t Florida get “constitutional carry?” The Orlando Sentinel has a good point on the Legislature and guns. The elected officials are very inconsistent on the issue.

In other news, Florida Tech has been ordered to reinstitute men’s rowing as a sanctioned sport, the county commission won’t spend TDC money on the Cocoa Beach Air Show, the legislature wants to stop credit card companies from using codes to track gun related sales, Florida students are using AI to cheat and a Jacksonville teacher has been fired over his library porn propaganda.

I guess we won’t be short of things to discuss on this WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY.

BML Thursday: Cheating, Choking & Costing Taxpayers

…so, “George Floyding” a student’s a thing

We have a diverse lineup for our discussion today. Under the cheating banner we have Florida students using AI to complete their homework. Choking has a local principal “George Floyding” a special needs student. Former County Commissioner Bryan Lober is still costing taxpayers money as county staffers will have their attorneys paid for by we the people as the FDLE looks into Lober’s alleged looting of the county coffers.

Also in play is the shooting of a Spectrum 13 news crew as they covered murders in Orlando. The reporter died and the camera man is in critical condition. Governor DeSantis is taking no flak from the legacy media, but his team’s latest move regarding NBC may be a mistake. A Georgia Grand Jury foreman (she’s s she, but the job is still foreman) seems to be struck with the idea of her own fame and was giddy making media appearances about their investigation into President Trump. Juries, even grand ones, are a dangerous thing.

Welcome to the Space Coast’s morning conversation.

BML Friday: People, Laws and Rules

…making life interesting

We’ll begin our Friday in the courts. Juries are dangerous things, no matter how grand they may be. If you consider that half the people around us are below average, do you really want a jury deciding your fate? Georgia gives us an example. Florida Tech has been ordered to reinstate its men’s rowing team. Title IX is the stated reason. It’s bunk.

From the law we move to rules and behavior. Why are school districts slow walking changes to discipline? The solution seems simple enough. Why do workers think they run their workplaces? It’s happening at Disney and in the federal government. Why do local governments think they run our lives? They believe they have more power than they actually do and Florida is considering taking action on that front.

Oh, and I received an anonymous letter from “a group of loyal listeners” complaining about my support of Moms for Liberty and Tina Descovich, in particular. There are several problems with this and exactly none of them are Tina Descovich or Moms for Liberty! We’ll discuss that at 7am!
