Here’s a recap of the week…

BML Monday: Even Great Teams Lose

…learning the lessons of sport

What is Philadelphia thinking? They had a great team play a great game in THE game of the year.Yes, they lost, but they played very well. The game was well played, exciting and decided in the last minute. Somebody has to lose. They don’t let the big games end in a tie. Someone’s going to lose. You don’t get to the Super Bowl without being a great team. There are lessons to learn in all of this.

On the collegiate level, Florida sports are moving to the big leagues as what used to be amateur competition slides further into the professional arena.

More UFO’s came down over the weekend. Talk about floating trial balloons.

On the ground it’s not enough to defund law enforcement. There are those who want to handcuff them as well. And on the criminal front…who’d have thought that not taking a COVID vaccine would have you treated like a criminal? That could, however, be a requirement to be on Palm Bay city council. Drinking and drugging seems to be a required pastime for serving on the governing body.

BML Tuesday: Go on Strike, Feel the Results

DAVE DOES HISTORY

It’s Valentine’s Day…not that we’ll pay attention to that. But feelings are a big part of the day. Maybe that’s appropriate in today’s world where feelings are more important than facts or reality. That’s apparent in our IN A HANDBASKET story where Temple University graduate students are surprised at losing their benefits after being on strike since January.

Moms for Liberty has lost a lawsuit over the public speaking policy at Brevard Schools. They say they’ll appeal. Palm Bay is facing uncertainty after the DUI and drug arrest of a city councilman.Any action to remove him must come from the governor until the case is adjudicated.

The state legislature will be looking at ESG regulations in state investments and their use by financial institutions. It’s good that they are. We’ll have to wait and see where they land on those regulations.

This morning Dave Bowman says, “Look, nothing happens in a vacuum. Whether it's a Papal Bull that results in the eradication of cats that seems to lead to millions of human deaths, or a grain shortage in the middle of a violent revolution that leads to a Economist/Reverend watching what is going on and coming up with what will become one of the most impactful theories in human history.”

We’ll see what he means in our 8am hour when DAVE DOES HISTORY on BML.

BML: WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY

…Stupid Crime Fighting Tricks

Today, you get to choose the topics of our discussion, but only when you call us to put your story in play. What’s it going to be?

For my part, idiots fighting crime have my attention. As with many stupid ideas, these come from California. And what good is college? It appears that beyond WOKE ideology, colleges are doing very little to prepare young adults for the reality of the workforce. And what were those UFOs the USA shot down over the last week or so? We're beginning to learn what the government is and isn’t saying.

Alright, it’s up to you. Let’s get the conversation going.

BML Thursday: Perversion & Confusion

…protecting our rights

There’s a movement causing confusion in our world. It’s causing perversion of our language and even scientists are participating. We’ll begin there and look at where this movement is most dangerous…our schools.

It seems the government is in on the game and doing its best to force a certain way of thinking upon us. One government is at least making noise about fighting back, Florida’s.

From changing terminology to make things less clear to firing teachers who stand up for parents and children and government surveys prying information out of our kids, this movement is intrusive, and in my view, dangerous.

Florida is standing up against these measures and we can only hope the legislature has success in doing so.

Florida Today’s John Torres will join us for the final hour of today’s discussion.

BML Friday: Filiberto No Shows Council

…where’s my balloon?

Embroiled in a DUI and drug scandal, Palm Bay councilman Peter Filiberto did not attend last night’s council meeting. Council voted to ask the governor to suspend Filiberto. The mayor made a motion for voluntary drug testing, a dangerous proposition if you know the history of the body. Unsurprisingly, it had no additional support.

Palm Bay is not the only stupidity in our news. IN A HANDBASKET takes us to New Hampshire where a school board (shock, shock) made a stupid decision and then reversed it after students and others protested. Chat GPT has made a flash lately as AI chat bots are apparently all the rage (and the stuff science fiction movies are made of).A New York Times writer has experienced the AI sci-fi fear in real life. Another Times writer is backing Ron DeSantis on Florida’s actions regarding that AP African-American history course.

What if you were a balloon enthusiast and suddenly your balloon was missing? An Illinois club has questions.

Who wins when space and sea are in conflict? Pretty much it’s space, but visiting cruise passengers could be the real losers.

Those stories have my attention on this Friday morning. Let’s get to the discussion…
