Here’s a recap of the week…

BML Monday: The Unexpected Trip Home

…catching up & chasing history

It was a surprise trip to the Mountain State. After our Friday, January 27th show I got a call from my sister. It’s not unusual for her to call; we talk multiple times a week. This call was different; our mother had died. Mom was reasonably healthy for her 85 years; her clock had simply run out. The result was a week that I had not anticipated and maybe the best experience around a funeral I have ever had.

It’s what I do…so there is a stack of stories from my time away that we have not had the chance to explore. We’ll tackle some of those as we catch up this week. If something in particular caught your attention, feel free to bring it up. Dave Bowman will join us with our weekly look at history as we close our day. Here’s a peek:

The first American Civil War was every bit as vicious and hate-filled as the second. And, like the second, it eventually resulted in amending the US Constitutional to try and make things better.

It led to an intense debate during ratification over the concept of State Sovereignty, and then went before the US Supreme Court, where the court... got it "wrong."

On February 7, 1794 We the People of the United States made that absolutely clear.

Or... did we?

We find out in hour-three with DAVE DOES HISTORY.

BML: WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY

…will local news improve?

Today is the one day a week that you can bring any topic to the discussion. It’s WIDE OPEN for that reason. And as we continue to catch up from my week away, I’m sure you’ll have things on your mind that are worthy of discussion. For my part, there are several:

There is apparently an unforgiveable sin in America, although I’d guess the music industry would disagree. As one caller mentioned yesterday, HAGS FOR BONDAGE have thrown in the towel and are hoping others can step in against Moms for Liberty. The legislature is proposing NOT-SO-CONSTITUTIONAL carry (we’ll discuss this with Rep. Tyler Sirois on Friday’s show). Is there a chance Florida Today is becoming a better reporter of the news? I believe so now that Bobby Block will be out of the way and no longer directing attack news coverage. Brevard Schools are under fire for discipline failures and we have, at long last, a good perspective from the union side of things.

The day’s open for anything and with lots to get to, let’s get started.

BML Thursday: Sacrificing Your Kids

…BPS Discipline Woes

Most parents would sacrifice themselves for their children. It’s not so in the world of education where schools are sacrificing kids to the gods of climate change. The gods of stupidity get their due as well and our kids are all the worse for it.

Other than not being a criminal, we have an idea for those who don’t want to be on Sheriff Wayne Ivey’s “Wheel of Fugitive. ”They can head to Washington State where their experience can net them a six figure job,

The fuel for the dumpster fire that is Brevard politics has been enriched by the D-33 Rep and one of his chief opponents, would-be political consultant Robert Burns. These two have taken campaigning and political discourse into the sewer where the smoldering waste fogs the landscape.

Back in Brevard’s education world we are seeing first bit of common sense from the teachers’ union on discipline. The board’s chair is under fire for his style. I'm not so sure it’s as much style as it is his lack of understanding the role. Much like a mayor being a largely ceremonial job, the board’s chair is nothing more than a member “weeth a steek!”

Welcome to Thursday.

BML Friday: Kids, Cars & the FBI

…Rep. Tyler Sirois

You’ve got to credit parents who got active when they saw what was going on in America’s schools. Moms for Liberty and other groups have stepped up big time for their kids and there are positive results. We’ll see examples IN A HANDBASKET this morning.

On the other end of the scale is the Baltimore Public School district where, maybe because of the improper emphasis of social issues, can’t get their students to understand math.

An FBI whistleblower has labeled the agency as “weaponized” against the American people. If a recent story out of Richmond is correct, and it appears it is, she isn’t wrong.

Representative Tyler Sirois will join us in the 8am hour to discuss the Special Session and other legislative issues.
