02.07.23- The Positive Funeral

It was strange to me, but not unpleasant. That was a surprise.

It was my mother’s funeral.

As a person of faith, funerals have never really bothered me. Sure, I miss family and friends who have passed away, but I have never been the weepy type.

That said, this was different. The preparation before the visitation, the service itself and the events after were actually joyful.

I suppose it was a real celebration of mom’s life.

As we went through family photo albums from mom’s childhood through the rest of her life there were smiles and laughs.

It was the same as we began the process of going through 85 years of keepsakes and memories at her home.

Mom lived life on her terms, right up to the end.

And in the end, we were fortunate to have had a great mom!

02.08.23- The White Flag Waved

Congratulations, Moms for Liberty. Your opposition has surrendered in the battle for our schools.

Families for Safe Schools (aka: Hags for Bondage as they stand for the opposite of M4L), has closed shop and moved on.

The group that only officially existed for one, short year has waved the white flag, pulled up stakes and left the battle for Brevard’s classrooms.

The apparent tide turning on the school board to a more conservative mindset was the final straw. Four of the seven board members of the group are leaving the state; a fifth is leaving the county for bluer pastures.

They say they’ll leave the fight to others. Are there others? They could not generate members to their meetings, but boasted 2500 keyboard warriors on social media.

This is a ground game, not a virtual one. Moms for Liberty has shown the way it is to be fought…

And apparently, they fight it well!

2.09.23- Wheel of Fugitive Players- Have Hope!

If you’ve been on Sheriff Wayne Ivey’s WHEEL OF FUGITIVE, we have hope for you today.

You could win a six-figure job! No, it’s true; that job could be yours as long as you have experience being incarcerated!

Paying between $108 & $133k annually, this Director of Person-Centered Services position is in Washington State’s Department of Corrections.

The department says the ideal candidate will be diligent and ambitious with “lived experience as a former incarcerated individual.” (that’s convict for you Wheel of Fugitive participants)

So, turn yourself in, get your obligation to society behind you and you could soon have that ultimate executive prison job!

Oh, they also say it would be good if you had a college degree- because you’ve had time to get it during your extensive prison stay.

Anybody want to bet it goes to a convicted politician?

02.10.23- It Would Have Been Glorious!

Our visit with Rep. Tyler Sirois began with what I consider to be bad news. Tyler had been considering a run for the Florida Senate in 2024. He’s decided not to do that.

It’s disappointing, as the only known interested candidate is the District 33 Rep. If elected, he would not represent Brevard well in Tallahassee. He’s not done so as a House member.

That said, the political game has become an ugly one and Brevard is no exception. That’s largely due to the antics of that D-33 Rep who sees no depth he won’t try when it comes to trashing opponents.

It's an intimidating atmosphere.

The problem- even the good politicians, the one with power exercised the right way, are not standing up against the bull in the China shop.

Until they do and support good folks who would choose to run, we can look forward to more politics at the lowest level.
