(Titusville, FL) --A woman is dead after she was hit by a train in Brevard County. It happened last night near Malabar Road and US Highway One. FHP says she was walking on the tracks when she was hit by an East Coast Railway train. She died at the scene. She has not been identified.
Teen Arrested After Tampa Bay Student Stabbed On Bus
(St. Petersburg, FL) -- A 14-year-old is in custody after Tampa Bay police say he stabbed another student on their school bus. Investigators say a student from Lealman Innovation Academy was stabbed in the arm with a box cutter in St. Petersburg yesterday morning. The victim suffered minor injuries. After the incident, the teen suspect tried running away, but was arrested by police.
Shots Fired At Tampa Police Officers
(Tampa, FL) --A search is underway to find the gunman who fired at Tampa Police officers. Interim Chief Lee Bercaw says someone shot an unmarked cruiser last night in Grant Park on 54th Street. None of the three officers in the car were hurt. Bercaw says this is just one example of the unforeseen circumstances our personnel face every single day. He's asking the public to come forward with any information they have.
Manatee County School Buses Shot At
(Bradenton, FL) --Two juveniles are accused of shooting at school buses in Manatee County. Bradenton Police say two buses were shot yesterday with BB guns. The incidents happened about three hours apart. No students were on either bus, and the bus drivers onboard were not hurt.
Florida Warns Pharmacists Not To Dispense Abortion Pills
(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida health officials are warning pharmacists not to distribute abortion pills. The State Agency of Healthcare Administration issued the alert last week as a reminder to providers to comply with current law. The move comes after the FDA decided to allow retail pharmacies to provide the pills in states that allow the procedure. In Florida, the procedure is legal until 15 weeks and can only be performed by a physician after a 24-hour waiting period. The state agency says anyone who violates the legislation will be reported to law enforcement.
Ex-Boyfriend Was Target Of Robbery Gone Wrong In Volusia County
(Daytona Beach, FL) -- Dramatic details are out on a robbery that turned deadly in Volusia County. Daytona Beach Police announced yesterday that 19-year-old Kaylee Grigsby Leinum and her boyfriend, Devyn Strickland, were trying to rob Kaylee's ex-boyfriend when they broke into his home on Shady Place last week. Strickland allegedly shot the victim, but he wasn't hurt because a bullet hit his cell phone that was in his pocket. Police say that's when the victim pulled a knife and stabbed the 21-year-old Strickland, who fled the home with Kaylee. Strickland was taken to the hospital where he passed away. Police say the stabbing was in self-defense. Kaylee is charged with second-degree murder.
OIA Ranks In Top 10 For Firearms Seized
(Tampa, FL) --TSA agents seem to be finding a lot of guns in carry-on bags at Orlando International Airport. The TSA yesterday released its list of the airports with the most gun seizures last year. Atlanta-Hartsfield International Airport ranks first with 448 while OIA came in sixth with 162. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport came in ninth, and Tampa International Airport came in tenth. Guns are not allowed in carry-on luggage, and violators could be fined up to 15-thousand dollars.
TSA Finds Undeclared Antitank Weapon In Luggage At San Antonio Airport
(San Antonio, TX) --Police are investigating after security screeners reportedly found an antitank weapon at the San Antonio International Airport. TSA officers found what appears to be an 84 millimeter Carl Gustaf M4 antitank recoilless rifle in somebody's checked luggage on Monday. The weapon was undeclared. Passengers are required to declare firearms, ammo, and any gun parts in their luggage during the check-in process. There's no word yet as to who owns the weapon or what consequences they may face.
South Florida Man Wants To Erect Penis Statue In Public Park
(Ft. Lauderdale, FL) -- A First Amendment rights activist wants to build a penis statue in South Florida. Chaz Stevens of Boca Raton wants to put a 300-pound statue of a six-foot high pink penis on display at a public park. Stevens says the symbol wouldn't be obscene because it's covered by an eight-foot-tall fence and out of plain sight. He argues it's a religious display, no different from a Christmas tree or menorah. Stevens has asked Fort Lauderdale and eight other cities for permission, but so far, Deerfield Beach has said no thanks.
