Ex-Key West Detective Arrested For Drug Trafficking

(Key West, FL) --A former Key West Police Department detective is accused of drug trafficking. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said detectives arrested David Allen Disgdiertt on Friday when they conducted a traffic stop and found he as trafficking fentanyl. He was fired from the Key West Police Department in the 1980s. He now faces charges of trafficking fentanyl, sale of a synthetic narcotic, and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Coast Guard Returns 82 Cuban Migrants

(Miami, FL) --There's no holiday break for those dealing with migrants trying to reach South Florida by boat. The Coast Guard yesterday returned 82 Cuban migrants who tried to make landfall in the last week. The Coast Guard is also helping officials in the Bahamas search for 22 people whose boat capsized last week.   

Florida Police Discuss Ways To Stop Human Trafficking

(Brooksville, FL) -- Law enforcement officers are working on a plan to stop human trafficking throughout Florida. A roundtable was held Friday in Hernando County following a series of arrests along the state's highways. Florida Highway Patrol have made 15 human smuggling arrests in Tampa Bay alone. County sheriffs are calling for a statewide partnership and tighter security on the southwestern border.

Volusia County Teen Charged In Boyfriend's Death

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- A Volusia County teenager is charged in her boyfriend's death. Daytona Beach Police say 19-year-old Kaylee Grigsby-Leinum and her boyfriend were robbing a home on Shady Place last week when the resident stabbed Kaylee's 21-year-old boyfriend in self-defense. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Grigsby-Leinum is charged with second-degree murder. 

Eight People Arrested During Illegal Snake Trafficking Operation

(Miami, FL) --Eight people are in custody following a three-year illegal snake trafficking operation in Florida. State wildlife officials say the suspects are facing charges ranging from second-degree misdemeanors to third-degree felonies. During Operation Viper, nearly 200 snakes from seven different regions of the globe were bought or sold by undercover investigators. The illegal activity took place mainly through specialized websites and closed social media pages. The FWC says some of the snakes they encountered were among the most dangerous in the world.

'Most Wanted' Suspect Arrested In Broward County

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- A man who may be familiar to realty TV viewers is now in jail in Broward County. Michael Baltimore was arrested last week in Davie after a fight at Geronimo's Grill on South University Drive.He was on the US Marshals 15 Most Wanted Fugitive list for a deadly 2021 shooting in Pennsylvania. The 45-year-old Baltimore appeared in 2019 on the TLC show '90 Day Fiancé.' 

Study: "Silly Walks" Good Exercise

(Tempe, AZ) --A study by an Arizona State University professor shows that a famous Monty Python sketch may provide an effective form of exercise. Exercise physiologist and longtime Monty Python fan Dr. Glenn Gaesser [[ GAYCE-er ]] says the "silly walk" uses more than twice the energy of a regular walking pace. He equates the silly walk with running more than five minutes. He added that 15 minutes a day of the silly walk meets the "guidelines for weekly vigorous activity." The "Ministry of Silly Walks" sketch features silly walks by cast members John Cleese [[ KLEECE ]] and Michael Palin [[ PAY-lin ]]. Dr. Gaesser says the walk by Cleese's character "Mr. Teabag" is the more effective exercise. Gaesser's findings were published in the British Medical Journal.
