BML Monday: It’s Over…or We’ve Only Just Begun

…Representative Tyler Sirois

Thank goodness that’s over! That is the World Cup…at least for us Americans. Nobody’s spoken it better than the Babylon Bee. In an unrelated story, anyone could have spoken it better than Tampa’s police chief who could have just kept her mouth shut. Now she’s suspended pending the outcome of an investigation over nothing other than the chief’s arrogance.

Is it possible there is a side benefit to the Brevard School Board’s knee-jerk actions toward Superintendent Mark Mullins? It would appear so; the administration could decide to clean out itself!

Elon Musk has released Twitter’s misdeeds related to the hunter Biden laptop story.

The University of Florida Med School has been caught playing PC games and, once caught, it backed off.

There is a lot of news centered in Tallahassee including the Special Session on Insurance and who knows what else has been set. After reports that Disney Springs would get a reprieve on the loss of its special tax status, the governor says not so fast. The state has pulled @2b from investments with BlackRock. The legislature seems set to rewrite a law that was rewritten just a few years ago to allow Governor DeSantis to hold his job while running for President, should he choose to do so.

Representative Tyler Sirois joins us to provide perspective in hour three.

BML Tuesday: Do You Have the Right?

…you’d like to think so

We would like to think we have certain rights. But, do we? Those who clamor most for having their rights recognized are the first to suppress the rights of others. Do you have a right to be served? Do you have the right to serve the customers of your choice? Which one wins? The expectation is that retailers serve anyone walking in the door. Ask a Christian group who scheduled a dinner meeting where wait staff did not want to serve them.  Then ask Christian bakers, photographers and others when it comes to gay weddings. Where are the rights or the equality? It’s never been about equality.

What about enumerated rights? Look no further than the second amendment to see just how rights are limited. And what about your right to vote? All’s well until you lose it by being a criminal. And now we are supposed to feel bad for ex-cons who don’t know if they can or should vote? I don’t think so.

The Brevard Deputy shooting at the hands of a friend and fellow deputy has made national news. It’s nothing short of tragic. It exemplifies the importance of training and respecting the weapon at all times.

Superintendent Mark Mullins will exit BPS at the end of the year. The search is on for an interim and a permanent replacement.

We’ll open our day with a follow up on Tampa’s police chief who has now resigned in a controversy that should have never been.

BML; WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY

…kids, sharks & schools

IN A HANDBASKET we’ll explore the dumbing down of America’s kids. If your kids are stupid, there’s a good reason for it. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are all the rage. Citing race and gender as an excuse for failure to achieve is nothing new. Saying it’s a problem in Shark Week, however, is.

Brevard’s School Board will meet tomorrow on discipline policy. That’s probably a good idea since the board’s chair, the sheriff and the state attorney held a dog and pony show announcing the upcoming changes that had not yet been addressed by the board.

There is a little more news and a lot of speculation into the shooting of one Brevard Deputy by another. The speculation serves no purpose and smacks of desperation to create a narrative.

Hershel Walker lost his run for the US Senate. That gives the Democrats 51-49 control of the body.

Today is WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY and we may cover all or none of the topics at hand.  It’s your day to initiate the topics on the show. So, tell me, what’s on your mind?

BML Thursday: Politics, Discipline & Discussion

…diversity where?

We have a mixed bag of things to get into this morning. From Doug Flutie dipping his toe in the water of politics to TDC funding for an air show and discipline in our schools, we have a full plate. School discipline will take the stage at the morning’s school board meeting. San Francisco PD is backing off on arming robots. Apparently the idea is too sci-fi for the city by the bay. A former state senator is headed to an ethics hearing. Maybe they’ll teach him what ethics are. A state representative has been indicted for COVID fraud. The US Supreme Court will take up Florida’s social media law.

We’ll catch up with Florida Today Engagement Editor John Torres in our 8am hour. It’s been a while since we have had a chance to talk. Today, John’s taking a look at prosecutorial misconduct.

Our day begins with diversity. Shark Week finds itself IN A HANDBASKET.
