Deputy Accidentally Shot While Playing Video Games With Roommate

(Brevard County, FL)-- More information regarding the deadly shooting of an off-duty Brevard County Sheriff's deputy is being revealed. Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Sunday that the shooting at 23-year-old Deputy Austin Walsh's residence Saturday morning appeared to be accidental. According to the sheriff, Deputy Walsh and his roommate, Brevard Deputy Andrew Lawson were taking a break from playing video games when Lawson jokingly pointed his gun at Walsh. The gun that Lawson says he thought was unloaded discharged, killing Walsh.  

Former Governor Candidate Gillum, Adviser Will Face Charges Together

(Tallahassee, FL)-- 2018 Democratic governor candidate Andrew Gillum and his campaign adviser Sharon Lettman-Hicks will face fraud and conspiracy charges together. A federal court judge on Thursday denied their request to be tried separately. U.S. District Court Judge Allen Winsor said the general rule is that defendants who are jointly indicted should be tried together. Gillum, who narrowly lost the 2018 race to current Governor Ron DeSantis, and Lettman-Hicks are accused of conspiracy, fraud, and lying to the FBI.

Suspect Dead, Cop Hospitalized Following Thursday Confrontation In Daytona Beach

(Daytona Beach, FL)-- A Daytona Beach police officer is recovering after a confrontation with a suspect turned deadly Thursday morning. Department sources say the as-yet-unidentified officer shot and killed 36-year-old Joseph Remley after the Deltona man pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the officer in the face. Authorities say the officer is expected to make a full recovery. An investigation into the incident reportedly is ongoing.

Motorcyclist Dead Following Pre-Dawn Saturday Crash In Brevard County

(Brevard County, FL)-- A motorcyclist is dead after he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete barrier hours before dawn yesterday in Brevard County. Melbourne police say 32-year-old Michael Maloney crashed on Eau Gallie Causeway shortly before 3:30 a.m. He reportedly was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. No other injuries are reported.

Space Force Activates New Command Out Of MacDill AFB

(Tampa, FL)-- Space Force is activating its new command at MacDill Air Force Base. The command of the newest branch of the military will be known as SPACECENT and will be responsible for all space-based operations under U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, which also is based at MacDill. Space-based operations will include satellite navigation, missile detection, and communications with troops in the CENTCOM region. Colonel Christopher Putnam will lead the new command.

Man Charged After Slapping St. Pete Police Horse

(St. Petersburg, FL)-- A man is facing charges for allegedly slapping a police horse in St. Petersburg Saturday morning. Just about 1:45 a.m. near Central Avenue and 3rd Street North, a St. Petersburg Police officer said he witnessed Alisha Lalani smack his partner's horse on the rear end with an open hand. The officer says that police lights were active and the officers on horseback were responding to a call. Lalani, who said he didn't know he wasn't allowed to hit the animal, was arrested and charged with battery on a police horse.
