Nikolas Cruz Gets Life In Prison

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- Nikolas Cruz will spend the rest of his life in prison, but one grieving mother says he's avoiding real justice. A judge in Broward County yesterday sentenced the 24-year-old Cruz to life without parole for killing 17 people in the 2018 Parkland school shooting. Before the sentence was announced, the judge heard victim impact statements from Linda Schulman and others. She lost her son in the shooting, and she told Cruz real justice would be if each family were given a bullet, Cruz' AR-15 and one shot each.Another parent said he'll celebrate when Cruz dies. 

Six Arrested For Check Theft

(Tallahassee, FL) --Six people are facing charges for stealing several thousands of dollars from residents in Tallahassee. The lead suspect was arrested recently in Thomas County, Georgia, and after searching his car, deputies reported finding several checks that were stolen from mailboxes in Tallahassee. Investigators believe he got into the mailboxes with a master key, but there's no word on how he got the key. He would then allegedly counterfeit the checks, and the other suspects would deposit them in one bank and withdraw them from another. The Thomas County sheriff tells WCTV the average check that was stolen was about 85-hundred dollars. 

Sarasota County Man Charged For Scam Attempt

(Sarasota, FL) --A Sarasota County man who left Dick Vitale devastated and heartbroken is facing criminal charges. The sheriff's office announced yesterday that Robert Schnepf used a false name and ID to try to buy more than 20 million dollars worth of assets. The allegations date back to Saturday when Schnepf claimed he was a business owner named Robert Banagino who was looking at buying two properties and a Rolls Royce.While at the car dealership, the manager introduced him to Vitale, who invited Schnepf to his home where Schnepf pledged three million dollars to Vitale's The V Foundation. The 48-year-old Schnepf has since been arrested for felony Scheme to Defraud, and investigators learned he's a two-time convicted felon. After learning of Schnepf's arrest, Vitale Tweeted he's devastated and heartbroken to learn he had a notorious con man in his house hugging him and his wife. 

Item Stolen From Pasco County Museum

(New Port Richey, FL) -- A search is underway to find a dinosaur in Pasco County. New Port Richey Police say someone stole a four-foot tall animatronic dinosaur that was going to be part of a museum exhibit. The theft was discovered Tuesday. The baby Velociraptor was going to be in next month's Dinos and Dragons exhibit at the Museum of Archaeology, Paleontology and Science. The dinosaur was valued at six thousand dollars. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. 

Chick-fil-a Experiments With Three-Day Work Week

(Miami, FL) --A South Florida Chick-fil-a is testing out a new way to prevent staffing shortages. Owner Justin Lindsey says he switched his employees to a three-day work week with up to 14-hour shifts. He operates a restaurant in Miami saying applications are coming in by the hundreds. He has since retained 100-percent of his employees. It's unclear if other Florida stores within the chain will follow suit.

Man Allegedly Steals From CT Amazon Facility, Is Caught Napping

(Naugatuck, CT) --A Connecticut man is charged with burglary and larceny at an Amazon warehouse after he was caught napping once he committed the alleged crimes. Authorities say David McCulloch was arrested on October 25th. McCulloch allegedly stole wire from a warehouse, but officers didn't have much trouble finding the suspect as he apparently decided to take a nap in his truck parked within the warehouse. McCulloch is due for a court appearance next month.

Leftover Halloween Candy Being Shipped To Troops Overseas

(Orlando, FL) --Thanks to an Orlando man, troops overseas are getting a sweet treat. Orlando Army veteran Cristian [[christian]] Garcerant [[GAR-sur-aunt]] is collecting leftover Halloween candy to send to US troops around the world. Since posting about his plans on NextDoor, he says he has gotten a great response from his neighbors. Garcerant tells Fox 35 the candy gives soldiers a sense of being home because when you bite into a Snickers, suddenly you're in America again.

Man Pretending To Be Stanford Student Lived On Campus For A While

(Stanford, CA) --A man pretending to be a student at Stanford University lived in the dorms for about a year. However, William Curry's adventures ended last week when he was finally located. That happened after the Alabama man was accused of going to the basement of a dorm and stealing a TV. He was reportedly removed from campus several times prior to that.
