Three Arrested In Shooting That Killed Polk County Deputy
(Bartow, FL) --Three people with a criminal history are facing charges in a shooting that led to a deputy's death in Polk County.Sheriff Grady Judd announced yesterday that Cheryl Williams, Donald Mathis and Joseph Albritton, Jr. were arrested for the shooting this week near Polk City that killed Deputy Blane Lane.The 21-year-old and three other deputies were serving a warrant on Williams when she allegedly pulled what looked like a real gun on deputies inside the home. Deputies fired their weapons, and a bullet hit Lane, who was outside the home. The 46-year-old Williams is facing 13 felonies, including second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer. Judd says she's still in the hospital in stable condition.
Biden Approves Extra Federal Disaster Funding For Florida
(Fort Myers, FL) --Florida will be able to access more federal disaster aid. Governor Ron DeSantis announced yesterday that President Biden has approved his request to release more disaster funding. DeSantis also announced that emergency road and bridge repairs for Pine Island in Lee County were finished in just about two days. The governor thanked FDOT crews for their dedication in working around the clock. DeSantis says he expects repairs to the Sanibel Causeway to be done by the end of the month.
Floodwaters Still Rising In Seminole County
(Geneva, FL) --Flood waters in Seminole County continue to rise. A teenager living in Geneva with her grandparents says water from the St. Johns River is just six inches from flooding their home. She says she's praying the water doesn't enter the home as they ride it out at an Airbnb. In Sanford, Lake Monroe could peak today or tomorrow and flood the downtown.Seminole County Emergency Management Director Alan Harris sees some good news, though. He tells the Orlando Sentinel Lake Harney has already crested, and the water is going down.
St. Pete Lawmaker Wants Another Special Session To Address Property Insurance

St. Petersburg State Senator Jeff Brandes said yesterday the storm will deliver a big blow to property insurance companies, and rates may go up as much as 30 percent next year. Two Arrested In Gainesville For Human Trafficking
(Gainesville, FL) --Two men in Alachua County are accused of human trafficking. Gainesville Police yesterday announced the arrests of 25-year-old Justin Hoyt and 20-year-old Kevarius King. They allegedly took in a homeless woman and forced her to have sex with dozens of men for money. She claims this went on for almost a month until Tuesday when they left her at a library after she passed out. Police say when she regained consciousness, she asked library staff to call 911.

Man Accused Of Drug Dealing In Church
(Baton Rouge, LA) --Authorities in Baton Rouge arrested a man for allegedly selling drugs out of a church. Hakeem Allen is accused of dealing drugs at three locations, including the Salvation Ministry of Jesus Christ. Police say Allen threw a handgun, fentanyl, and marijuana at officers while trying to flee the church. He is facing several charges.
