Search, Rescue Efforts Ongoing In FL, 80+ Dead

(Undated) -- Search and rescue efforts are ongoing as the state recovers from Hurricane Ian. Reports say more than 80 deaths have been linked to the storm, with most coming in Florida. Over 600-thousand people are still without power. The death toll is expected to rise in the coming days. First Lady Casey DeSantis announced yesterday the Florida Disaster Fund has raised over 21 million dollars. Donations can be made at VolunteerFlorida.org. 

Floridians Slammed By Hurricane Ian Can Apply For FEMA Assistance

(Tampa, FL)-- People in the nine counties that took the hardest hits when Hurricane Ian hammered Florida can now apply for disaster relief funds through FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency. President Biden on Thursday approved a major disaster declaration for Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties. In addition to home repairs and lost property, FEMA may also cover temporary housing, funerals, medical bills, moving and storage, along with other expenses caused directly by the storm.

Brevard County Road Closed Due To Flooding

(Titusville, FL)-- Flooding caused by Hurricane Ian could affect the morning commute in Brevard County. FDOT announced an emergency road closure yesterday for SR 46 at the St. Johns River near the Seminole County line. There's no word on how long the closure will be in effect. 

Seminole County Changes Bus Stops Due To Ian

(Sanford, FL)-- Parents in Seminole County should be aware of some changes in place due to Hurricane Ian. The school district announced yesterday that some bus stops ae being changed, effective today. The district says the changes are needed because of road damage and flooding across the county. You can get the details at Facebook.com/SeminoleCountySchools. 

Teen Killed, Two Hurt In Pinellas County Crash

(St. Petersburg, FL)-- A teenager is dead and two others are hurt after a stolen car crash in Pinellas County. It happened yesterday morning near St. Petersburg on 62nd Street North. The sheriff's office says 15-year-old Keondrick Lang was driving a stolen Maserati 80 miles an hour in the dark with no headlights when he lost control and flipped the car. One of his passengers was 15-year-old Mario Bonilla, who died at the scene. Deputies say Lang suffered critical injuries but is expected to survive. A 16-year-old passenger had life-threatening injuries. The sheriff's office says deputies were not in pursuit. 

Florida's NFL Teams Lose

(Undated) -- This will be a weekend to forget for Florida's NFL teams. All three lost in Week Four. Kansas City beat Tampa Bay, 41-31, last night in Tampa. Philadelphia beat Jacksonville at home, 29-21, and Miami lost at Cincinnati on Thursday, 27-15. The good news, though, is that the Buccaneers, Jaguars and Dolphins are all tied for first place in their divisions.   

Pro Fishing Champion Accused Of Cheating At Competition

(Walleye, OH)-- Two pro-fishermen are being accused of cheating at an Ohio tournament. Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyon were apparently caught stuffing their fish with lead weights and frozen fish fillets to make the catches seem heavier than they were. Video footage shows tournament officials pulling weights out of their fish while onlookers demand answers and even threaten to call the police.Reports say Cominsky and Runyon were frontrunners in the competition before the shocking revelation, and now the thousands they've won in prize money from previous tournaments is being called into question. 

Jeffery Dahmer Eyeglasses For Sale

(Vancouver)-- The glasses that serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer wore in prison are up for sale. Taylor James, who runs Cult Collectibles out of Vancouver, Canada, is ready to part ways with the reading glasses for 150-thousand dollars. Cult Collectibles sells several items from its "Jeffery Dahmer Collection" online including his bible, original family photos and paperwork. Dahmer was convicted of 16 murders and sentenced to life in prison in 1992. He only lasted a few years behind bars before being beaten to death at the hands of another inmate.
