Atlantic Coast Under Tropical Storm Watch
(Miami, FL)-- Much of the Atlantic Coast is under threat of Hurricane Ian. The National Hurricane Center has a Tropical Storm Watch and a Storm Surge Watch in effect from Jupiter Inlet to Altamaha Sound in Georgia. Storm surge could reach as high as four feet. Volusia County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow and Thursday. Brevard County school officials will meet today to decide what to do for the rest of the week.
Rain Totals Could Reach 20 Inches
(Miami, FL)-- Flooding from Hurricane Ian could be a serious problem in Central Florida. The National Hurricane Center predicts rainfall totals between four and 12 inches, with part of Central West Florida possibly getting up to 20 inches. The NHC says this could lead to widespread considerable flash and urban flooding and prolonged significant river flooding.
Disney Making Changes Ahead Of Ian
(Orlando, FL)-- Disney is taking precautions ahead of Hurricane Ian. Disney World announced yesterday that four resorts will be closed tomorrow through Friday. The resorts affected are Fort Wilderness, Copper Creek Cabins, Treehouse Villas and the Bungalows. Typhoon Lagoon will close tomorrow and Thursday along with Winter Summerland Mini Golf and Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf. Meanwhile, Disney theme parks and Disney Springs are currently operating under normal conditions. Universal Orlando is also continuing as normal.
OKC Ties For Fourth Most Foul-Mouthed City In The Nation
(Oklahoma City, OK)-- The people of Oklahoma's capital are being recognized for their use of colorful language. Oklahoma City has landed at the top of a list of the nation's most foul-mouthed cities.A recent survey by language-learning app Preply places OKC at number four, tying with Dallas, Philadelphia and Indianapolis. Columbus, Ohio topped the list at number one, followed by Las Vegas and Jacksonville, Florida.
