The plan introduced by President Biden last month shows half of state residents that qualify received Pell Grants. Governor Ron DeSantis has criticized the plan for being unfair to people who already paid off their debt. Demings To Skip Biden Rally

Congresswoman Val Demings, who's running for senate against Marco Rubio, says she won't attend Tuesday's rally, but Charlie Crist, who's running for governor, will. Demings says she'll be in Washington that day, but she didn't explain why. Crist, though, says he's proud to welcome Biden. Rubio's campaign says Demings is hiding to escape responsibility for Biden's agenda. The RealClearPolitics.com average has Rubio leading Demings by less than three percentage points, and DeSantis leads Crist by less than five percent.
Voter Fraud Suspect Pleads Not Guilty
(Orlando, FL)-- An Orlando man is fighting an accusation that he voted illegally in the 2020 election. Jerry Lee Foster pled not guilty Wednesday to voter fraud charges. The 72-year-old is a convicted felon, but he claims he thought his right to vote was restored after voters approved Amendment Four in 2018.He says he filled out a voter application and was given a voter ID card.
Man Taken Into Custody After Barricade Situation In Brevard County
(Melbourne, FL)-- A man is in custody after a barricade situation in Melbourne. Melbourne Police say they got a report that an armed man threatened someone at a home on Poinciana Drive yesterday morning. Adam Williams refused to come out when officers arrived, and talks went on for three hours before the 38-year-old came out of the home and surrendered peacefully. Police say it turns out the gun was a pellet gun, but Williams is still facing charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Brevard County Pastor Arrested For Sex With Underage Girls
(Palm Bay, FL) -- A Brevard County pastor is accused of having sex with underage girls. Palm Bay Police on Wednesday arrested Apostolic Church Of Christ pastor Roberson Douge. The 42-year-old is facing charges that involve at least two girls between 12 and 16-years-old. The sheriff's office says the girls met Douge through the church and the Tiger Claw Kung Fu Academy where he's a dojo owner. Police are asking any additional victims to come forward.
MADD Official Discusses Push For Alcohol Detection System In Cars

This week, the National Transportation Safety Board asked federal officials to require an alcohol detection system in all new cars. Road Rage Driver Arrested In Miami-Dade County
(Hialeah, FL)-- A man is facing charges for a road rage incident in Miami-Dade County. Hialeah Police yesterday arrested Maykel Escalona for Wednesday's incident on West 21st Street. The 39-year-old allegedly got a gun and confronted another driver who cut him off on the Hialeah Expressway. No shots were fired, and no one was hurt. Escalona is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
