Our call of the day on this WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY is not a call at all, but rather a TEXT!
We were talking the ridiculous policy that has Brevard Schools claiming it will take up to a year to review EACH of the books on the list of 39 that Moms for Liberty has objected to in our school libraries. 39 books, a year each, that's just shy of TWO DECADES before the objectionable material can be handled by these "education professionals."
Want to speed that up? How about pulling any book that's been objected to until the review is done? You'll see the administration moving faster than a teacher to the parking lot on the last day before Christmas or Spring break or the end of the school year!
But a text that came in during the discussion made the point better than anything. Here is is: It seems funny that a book a kid would have to read and write a report in a week or two takes a year for a bureaucrat.
Doesn't that say it all? If a kid in the learning environment gets a week or two to read and write a report on a book, why does it take adults a year per book to do the same thing?
The honest answer is that it doesn't and anything longer than that is an insult and a middle finger to the parents and taxpayers of Brevard!
