Tropical Storm Earl To Become First Major Hurricane

(Undated) -- Tropical Storm Earl is forecasted to become the first major hurricane of the season late this week. The National Hurricane Center gave that update just days after Earl formed in the Atlantic. It looks like the storm is not a threat for Florida. It is currently traveling toward Bermuda before it starts moving northward over the next few days. NOAA is predicting an above-average year with up to 21 named storms.

Three Kids Shot During Little League Game

(Lauderdale Lakes, FL)-- Three kids are recovering after they were shot during a Broward County little league football game. Witnesses told WPLG a situation involving gamblers was the reason behind a shooting last night at Boyd Anderson High School. Police have not confirmed that as the reason, but say the reckless situation caused chaos. The victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.Authorities are trying to figure out the moments leading up to the incident.

Two Sentenced For Child Porn Charges

(Titusville, FL)-- Two men described as despicable subjects are now behind bars.The Brevard County Sheriff's Office announced last night that Melbourne's Christian Rice and Jacksonville's Robert Ripley were sentenced for child porn charges. Rice got 30 years in federal prison for production, distribution and possession of child porn. Ripley got 14 years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child porn. The sheriff's office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force determined he abused a five-year-old, videotaped it and shared the images. Sheriff Wayne Ivey wrote on Facebook there's only one place criminals like this should be allowed to breathe air and that's behind bars in a small cell where they can never harm a child again. 

Man Arrested For Vandalizing Federal Courthouse In Broward County

(Fort Lauderdale, FL)-- A man is facing charges for vandalizing a federal courthouse in Broward County. Matthew Chilcutt was arrested yesterday morning at the courthouse in Fort Lauderdale on Broward Boulevard. The 43-year-old is charged with burglary. Police say they checked the building floor-by-floor to make sure it's safe to reopen today.   

Tallahassee Coffee Shop Workers Go On Strike

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Coffee shop workers in Tallahassee are taking action to get better treatment and better pay. Employees at a Starbucks on North Monroe Street and Serenity Coffee and Kava Bar in Railroad Square went on strike yesterday. A Starbucks employee says the company withheld raises for forming a union.A Serenity employee says they can't take the mistreatment anymore, and they want their boss to hire more workers.The Starbucks location will reopen today, but the Serenity employee tells WCTV they don't want to reopen until their demands are met. 

Venice PD Help Couple With Baby Reveal

(Venice, FL)-- A couple is grateful to police officers in Sarasota County for helping them pull off an elaborate surprise. Brian Whalen and his wife, Annamarie, used a Venice Police Officer to inform their mothers that they're expecting a baby. In a video posted on Facebook last week, a Venice Police Marine Patrol officer stops the family while they're boating and tells them they're lacking a life vest for a child. He then hands Brian and Annamarie's moms an ultrasound, congratulates everyone and thanks them for letting him be part of the announcement.The video has gotten over five thousand Views.       

Box Of Live Reptiles Delivered To Wrong Address In New York

(Port Chester, NY)-- Police in New York say a box of live reptiles was delivered to the wrong address. A resident in Port Chester, near the Connecticut border, was surprised when they opened a box filled with lizards and iguanas. Authorities were able to secure the animals and take them to a local animal sanctuary for the time being. There's no word on if the person waiting on the shipment of reptiles was found.
