DOJ Submits Redacted Mar-a-Lago Affidavit

(Washington, DC) -- Federal prosecutors have submitted their redacted version of the Mar-a-Lago affidavit as a judge considers releasing it. The Department of Justice was ordered to provide their edits for the document used to secure a search warrant for former President Trump's Palm Beach home. The DOJ has argued security of the affidavit is needed, while they investigate confidential documents found at the estate.

Another Homeowner Insurance Company Pulls Out Of Florida

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Another homeowner insurance company is deciding to pull out of Florida.United Property and Casualty is the latest to file plans to withdraw from markets in the state, causing customers to find new coverage elsewhere. Officials say policies will gradually be dropped as they come up for renewal.It's unclear at this time how many people will be impacted in Florida and other states. This year five property insurers have filed for bankruptcy forcing the state-backed insurer to take on more than one-million policies.

SpaceX Launch Scheduled Following Successful Test

(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- SpaceX is preparing for a weekend launch after celebrating a successful test.The spacecraft company checked its engines today and is ready to send another batch of 53 Starlink satellites into orbit. The technology will be used to provide reliable internet access across the globe. Officials are targeting a liftoff time of 10:22 p.m. on Saturday as they keep an eye on the weather.

Weather Looks Good For Artemis One Launch

(Cape Canaveral, FL)-- It looks like Mother Nature will cooperate with the first phase of NASA's plans to send astronauts back to the moon. Artemis One is set to launch Monday morning from the Kennedy Space Center, and weather forecasters yesterday said launch conditions are 70-percent Go.Artemis One is an uncrewed test flight to see if the Orion capsule and Space Launch System rocket can carry astronauts in the next mission, Artemis Two. That mission could launch in a couple years, and if it's successful, Artemis Three will then launch the first woman and person of color to the moon.  

Bank Robbery Suspect Indicted

(Orlando, FL)-- After a brief taste of freedom, an Orlando man may spend the rest of his life behind bars. The US Justice Department announced yesterday that Timothy Jones was indicted for two counts of bank robbery. Two months ago, the 59-year-old was released from prison after serving time for bank robbery, and the next day, he allegedly stole 30-thousand dollars from a bank in Orlando. A week later, he allegedly stole 50-thousand dollars from a bank in Kissimmee. If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of ten years, and a maximum sentence of life. 

High School Football Games Canceled Over Social Media Post

(Orlando, FL)-- A social media post is having repercussions for some local athletes.Orlando's Bishop Moore Catholic High School canceled yesterday's JV and freshmen football games against Edgewater.School officials say the decision was made after they learned of an inappropriate social media post. No details were released, but the school says law enforcement has addressed the issue. The varsity game will still take place tonight at 7:00. 

Convicted Felon Sentenced After Social Media Post Shows Him With Gun

(Tampa, FL)-- A social media post has a convicted felon heading back to prison.The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that Tampa's Devontae Hunter was sentenced to more than four years in prison after he was seen with a gun in a video he uploaded to Instagram last year. The video shows the 25-year-old showing off a Glock pistol that he's not allowed to have because he's a convicted felon. Hunter was found with the same gun two days later during a traffic stop.       

California Governor Pledges Money For Crist Campaign

(Sacramento, CA)-- California's governor is putting money into Florida's governor's race.California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom yesterday pledged 100-thousand dollars to Charlie Crist's campaign for governor of Florida. Newsom Tweeted it's time to make Ron DeSantis a one-term governor. Crist's campaign manager tells the Sacramento Bee that Newsom's support is a clear sign of the national enthusiasm for defeating DeSantis.

CA Man Caught With Reptiles In His Pants Pleads Guilty To Smuggling

(Los Angeles, CA)-- A California man who was caught at the southern border with dozens of reptiles in his pants is pleading guilty to smuggling. Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles announced Wednesday that 30-year-old Jose Manuel Perez pleaded guilty to importing wild animals into the country.Perez is accused of smuggling over 17-hundred wild animals worth over 700-thousand dollars into the U.S. He was arrested in February at the San Diego border crossing with about 60 snakes and lizards concealed in his pants and jacket.Perez faces over 20 years in a federal prison if convicted. 

'Star Trek's' Nichelle Nichols Ashes Will Be Part Of Vulcan Rocket Launch

(Undated) -- 'Star Trek' great Nichelle Nichols will have her ashes sent to space with several other co-stars. Nichols played Lieutenant Uhura on the show until 1969, and passed away this July.Now her ashes will be added to a United Launch Alliance Vulcan rocket launching later this year. The mission will deliver a lunar lander to the moon to scout for NASA's future Artemis flights before continuing deeper into space.The ashes of Nichols, as well as 'Star Trek' creator Gene Roddenberry, and cast members James Doohan and Majel Barrett Roddenberry will be sent into a so-called "graveyard orbit" around the sun.
